BoomerSooner
With so many people using the Rupes 15 and Duetto, has Adams considered making a pad for these polishers?
Adam
Absolutely! We sell them now: All 7" pads on this page work excellent with the Rupes! http://www.adamspolishes.com/c-58-polishes-pads-applicators.aspx Chris@Adams

I am looking into getting one. Rupes obviously says to use only their pads, but I have read that because of the throw to your their pads. I noticed they are the only ones with a whole in to center, and their MF pads look like something out of a spaceship. Also I am thinking about getting the 16 which comes with a 6" pad set up. Is it a big deal to go up to the 7" pads on a machine meant for smaller? Sorry for some of the ignorant questions. A lot has changed since I helped my dad with his business 25 years ago. RKCamaro13
I have the Rupes 15, which is the one you are looking at I think (there is no 16). But I use another companies pads that I find work very well. You could get the backing plate for the bigger pads, I didn't because I have areas that aren't large enough for the bigger pads. Ricky Bobby
Hey Greg, Rupes has a 15 and a 21, I assume you mean the 15? If so, the 15 is setup for 5.5" pads, whereas the Rupes 21 is setup for 6.5" (Adam's 7") pads. The Adam's 7/6.5" pads work well with the Rupes 21, for the Rupes 15 you'd have to get a different brand's pads as Adam doesn't offer a 5.5" pad option in their regimen. Yes that was a typo on my part. Would it not be suggested to us an Adams 6" backing plate on that machine, and use the 7" pads as it is slightly different than others? BoomerSooner
I was told that the 7" pads would work on the Duetto. The throw is shorter than the 15, but I was also told there would be increased pad wear because of the throw.

However, you can use non-Rupes pads on the Rupes, if that makes sense. The Rupes backing plates are special to their machine, its similar to why Flex users do not use different backing plates unless they come from Flex. To Phenom, yes you can use the 7" pads on the Duetto. There is increased wear because its a larger pad than the backing plate is meant for, the BP on the Duetto is meant for 5.5" pads, so less of the pad backing is supported by the backing plate on the Duetto when you use a 7" pad on it.
