So I was polishing a 30 year old SL 500 at work the other day and experienced something with the paint correcting polish I haven't before. The polish seemed to dry instantly on the hood. I applied the polish to the pad, sprayed it with a shot of detail spray, and then spread the polish a bit before starting the machine. However, the polish dried immediately and I was unable to work with it.
I only experience this quick drying on the hood. I was able to polish the rest of the car fine, but anything on the hood would dry immediately. The car was cool so I don't think it was a problem with the hood being hot. I was in a garage so not in direct sunlight. The pad was perfectly clean and I only used one shot of detail spray. Any idea why this could have been happening?
