Trying to prevent surface scratches on new harley?

hemi1300

Question

Have had my 14 street glide for a year now, after numerous wipe downs have realized the clear is extremely soft. Of course being vivid black doesn't help, damn thing is a dust magnet. Wipe it down very often with waterless, and still manage to get slight swirls from time to time, porter cable polishes them to perfection in just a few minutes. Was thinking about mixing up a bucket of rinseless wash and keeping it sealed in the bucket for a week or so, then every time I wipe it down, just dip a towel in the rinseless bucket for my wipe downs, maybe even a spray or two of waterless on the damp rinseless towel. Thoughts? Would this method reduce the chance of swirls compared to just using waterless? Sorry for the long post

No worries Derek.

I do what you do, I keep a bucket sealed with a few gallons of rinseless solution and towels soaking.  After a ride, instead of the old way of just spraying and wiping, I take a towel out of the bucket, pre-soak the bike a bit, get a dry 16x24 waffle weave for drying, and do my Triumph with a rinseless wash every time.  Keeps it cleaner and less swirled than just a spray and wipe cleaning.

And I only use 2 towels max every time I clean it, so its very efficient.  I have Gloss Black too on my Thunderbird.

^Been meaning to ask you about that if possible to look into a reformulation for longer shelf life when mixed, what is that from, an ingredient in the Rinseless, or is it from the minerals in tap water?

I store my rinseless solution using another product for months at a time with no ill effects, but I do mix with distilled water.

Regardless the Rinseless does work well currently and it mixes great at higher dilutions, for pre-soak, etc, just at the rinseless wash dilution those are the only negative effects.

Partially minerals from tap, plus the chemical wants to grab onto something. The walls of a bucket are not as smooth as the walls of a PET bottle and anything (I mean ANYTHING) on that surface is a potential spot for the product to try to attack. Not sure there is a way to make it long term storable without impacting its performance for its intended use.

Plus, at that point we're really starting to demand a lot... its already a product that just a few ounces gives you weeks worth of use. No other product does that (you can't keep your foamed up car wash bucket stored for a week) so it becomes expecting more when it already does so much more.

No complaints from me I am thoroughly impressed at its performance, as well as price point and versatility as I've remarked from its release.

I may have some Rinseless left I can mix with distilled at a rinseless dilution and see if it keeps any better if you'd like the feedback?

The issue comes in if you see a ring form at the top and even after shaking you don't get a clean mixture.

This is also what happens if you use a Kwazer bottle for Rinsless Spray. If you run your (clean) finger on the inside it's almost a gel if you don't shake it up once a week, or so I've noticed. Just FYI if anyone is seeing this and don't know what it is.
