So I did my first wash after doing a FMP, seal and wax and had a bit of a scare... After I had done my two bucket wash with a foam gun, it looked like my wash pad had acted like very fine sand paper and left hundreds of micro scratches in my paint.
I was completely heart broken thinking I just ruined all my work from the previous week but went on with drying with detail spray. I was completely amazed when after making my passes with the detail spray that all the super fine scratches that were left from the wash pad had disappeared!
Now my question is what happened here? Detail spray does not contain filler correct? Was it the buttery wax that streaked while washing making it look like hundreds of super fine scratches were in the paint?
I'm slightly worried that the damage has just been covered up now. I've been using the same washing technique for years and I know it's not perfect but I have only done very minor damage that a quick pass of FMP always clears up. Nothing like what I experienced last night. I did move last year and am now using well water that is quite hard. Is it possible the water itself having so much fine particles in it that it could have caused the damage?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
