Time to sand Billets?

s3gulit

Question

Working on my wheels, they are Boyd Coddington Timeless 6's i've had for 7-8years. Before i found Adams, etc. i used the standard Mothers Billet polish, still do at times.

I've tried i think everything to get these wheels back to 100%. Adams 1-2 step, White Diamond, About 4-5 different aggressive compounds from the big rig Chrome Shop we buy stuff for the semi's at, flour as a final finish, etc and still seeing tons of micro scratches as well as a few deep ones.

Am i down to getting out the 2K grit and wetsanding a weekend away?

Will upload pics tonight or tomorrow, phone died as usual with apple phones lol.

Thanks,

Dave

Post the pictures and let the experts here see what you are dealing with.  What towels are you using in your final polish?  Could they be the source of your micro scratches?  For the deeper, if you've tried various compounds and still have scratches I don't think 2000 grit is going to get you there.  You'll probably have to sand with something much more aggressive and then work your way back up in grit or with compounds again.  I have a set of Weld Racing billets that I got used and had to sand from 150 grit and up and I still didn't remove all the imperfections.  Once you get them where you want them I recommend using Adam's quick sealant to help keep them looking good longer.
