Machine polishing over sealant

Michael

Question

I have washed, clayed, corrected, machine polished and sealed the car. If I take out the cyclo every so often after a wash  and machine polish with finishing polish, will I be working against myself and removing the sealant?

Thanks

The sealant is not a coating so it won;t last for years, depending on how long you drive your car the sealant will go away anyways. If you will wash and use the cyclo then you will need to seal again.

Not only will polishing remove the sealant, the sealant will gum up your polishing pads and make them less effective.

Much better to wait until you can strip the sealant before you polish.

^ spot on!

Even the light abrasive properties of finishing polish and a white pad will be enough to knock your sealant down, so you'll need to re-seal after polishing, but as Beemer pointed out - it will also gum up your pads to a degree making for less effective polishing.

Revive works well to clean up the finish in between machine polishes.  If I find areas that have really stubborn, stuck-on gunk while I'm washing, I'll spot-clay just those areas using the wash water suds, then treat/dry with H2O Gloss & Guard to refresh the sealant.
