Layering questions

duckvett

Question

New member and new to Adam's products, but love the products I do have.

I watched some of the videos on the website, but the video about layering left me with a few questions.  I already have a coat of Buttery Wax on the Corvette.  I would like to order Brilliant Glaze.  Can I layer Brilliant Glaze over Buttery Wax and then follow that with another coat of Buttery Wax over Brilliant Glaze?  Should I strip the first layer of BW, then lay on a coat of BG over the freshly polished paint?

I am also strongly considering buying Paint Sealant to take the place of Meguiar's NXT 2.0 on our daily drivers which park outside.  Somewhat the same question - should I do Paint Sealant, Brilliant Glaze, Paint Sealant to get both gloss and protection?

Some of my future question will concern comparisons to Meguiar products as that is what I have used for many years, I know how to use them and what to expect.  Switching to Adam's because I was blown away by the performance of both Detail Spray & Buttery Wax.

I would say to stop thinking about doing the "Oreo effect" with your buttery, glaze, buttery and your sealant, glaze, sealant questions.

Put the product which is most durable down as a base. With Buttery, you'll get 2 months max. So lay down a coat or two of Buttery at most and glaze monthly if you'd like to kick the shine up. Then at the 2-3 month mark do it again.

Liquid Paint Sealant is worlds better than NXT as I used to use that years ago. You will get an average of 6 months durability, but don't put it on top of other waxes or glazes.

Use it as a base, super thin coat or 2 at the max (thin coats on everything), then you can top it with Buttery or glaze as needed. However you will get a TON of shine from just the sealant alone so you may be happy with just that. And the best part about sealant as opposed to traditional paste waxes or liquid waxes is that in pollen and dusty conditions you will notice a LOT more dust repellant nature

Yes you can apply BG over your Buttery......one good thing with BG is you could apply a coat every weekend and it won't build up like wax will.

You can either apply BG under or over your LPS or both.....

My favorite combo for a daily is LPS or QS followed by a coat of Americana.

For a garage queen/weekend driver I'll do LPS/QS, glaze, and Patriot. The sealant is really unnecessary on a garage queen, but it allows me to not have to re-do the LSP as much because I know the sealant will last a long time not being exposed to inclement weather.

What is the best way to strip the wax layers and even the LSP? I've read thru past topics and am getting confused with all the recommendations. Diluted rubbing alcohol or All purpose Cleaner? Adding APC to the car wash solution sounds the easiest...

I do both.  Strip wash with 2 oz of APC and 2 oz of car wash shampoo.  I then wipe each panel as with IPA as I polish.

Might be overkill but it's quick, easy and cheap.
