First time sealant, glaze, wax

70Judge

Question

Working this weekend on my Black GMC Yukon and I want to make sure I have the correct order down.  My plan is 2 bucket wash, clay bar, wash again or 50/50 alcohol wipe down (Yukon was used and I'm not sure what products have been used on it before it meet Adam's Products), Liquid Paint Sealant, wait 1 hour, Brilliant Glaze, and finally Americana Wax.  Does this sound like the correct order?   Any suggestions would be great!

Chad, no paint correction or polishing before sealant application?

Process should be:

Two Bucket Wash

Clay Bar

Re-Wash or ISO Wipe down

Paint Correction

Finish Polish

Sealant - wait appropriate time depending upon environmental conditions

Glaze & Wax Optional m- all this will do is increase protection slightly, and increase depth or the "wet look" of the paint finish

Looks like a good plan.

I prefer a full strip wash after claying.  It seems to me that trying to wipe off clay residue with IPA just smears it around and takes too many towels.

I have some professional experience in industrial protective coatings, so I am of the opinion that a sealant will last longer if it bonds to bare, clean paint.

Strip wash would be to add 4 ounces of APC to the 2 ounces of Car Shampoo, you'd normally use for a two bucket wash. The strip wash and claying will remove anything that may have been applied to the paint prior to your purchase.

Want to save a bit of time?

Instead of a re-wash or IPA wipe down after claying, I simply wipe the DS residue off the panel while it's still wet as I'm claying. Anything that remains is completely removed as I lay down the LPS. The only time I'm doing an IPA wipe down is if polish residue remains on the paint prior to my next step.

I simply wipe the Detail Spray residue off the panel while it's still wet as I'm claying. Anything that remains is completely removed as I lay down the Liquid Paint Sealant.

My question here is won't there be a layer of detail spray between the clear coat and the paint sealant?  Kind of wish I would have ordered some revive polisher now too!!

What Detail Spray adds is negligible at best. It really just "freshens-up" wax.  It doesn't add to it....

I always wipe the wet detail spray off the area I just clayed.  I normally don't do the re-wash and ISO wipe down.  After the clay I go to the paint correction polish, the the finishing polish, them the sealant, glaze and a good coat of Americana.
