USS ESSEX - video I shot of last day aboard

I was going through an old back up hard drive of mine and came across this video I shot back in 2007. It was the last time I saw my ship before I flew home from Japan.

As you can tell from the music I was very happy to be coming home and seeing the ship leave without me - but don't get me wrong, I LOVED serving in the Navy and would do it again if the Navy needed me back.

That is a very cool video. I have never been up close to a Navy ship.

Does one person drive it at a time?? :burnout:

Are there airplanes on it??

How big is that ship??

Ok...I could keep asking questions but I will stop there for now. :willy:

HA! Two people drive it, one for throttle and one for steering. We carried a squadron of Harriers and a fleet of 4 different types of helicopters, 2 hover crafts, and 2,000 Marines. The ship is 840 feet long.
