Cleaning pedals

I have had these pedals on my truck since about 08/09.  I like them but they are not the easiest thing to keep clean.

 

I basically have to remove them, pop out the buttons, scrub, brush, soak, repeat and then reinstall.

 

I did use  aluminum cleaner (wheel acid) once after laying down plastic and about 4 towels and squirted it on the pedals and the results were super but I really dont like squirting acid inside the truck even with everything protected.

 

Any tips for cleaning them?  APC and  stiff brush did very little if anything. Maybe something to seal them on occasion would help.

 

Any ideas?

Use an old toothbrush with soft bristles and APC. Finish with a plain water scrub and wipe dry.

APC would not touch it using a stiff bristle parts brush I have. Its like a tooth brush with hard plastic bristles.

 

I wish I had a small brass brush to try.

Hmmmm email the manufacturer see what they recommend. Short of removing them and polishing by hand or machine I'm not sure they are bare aluminum

Now that they are clean thinking about some type of liquid protectant?

 

Its a garage queen now so not going to see much for elements.

I would be concerned with a sealant making them too slick.

I was thinking of some of that high tech sealant they coat airplane parts with or Eastwoods exo-armour.   Something that soaks into the metal.
