Check to make sure the gasket comes off with the oil filter! I did both the Durango and Jeep's oil changes today. The Durango went well, but the jeep for the second time left the oil filter gasket on. Filter went on funny so I checked, and glad I did!! Have a great weekend all!!

I've had that happen to me as well. I didn't pay any attention and just installed the new filter. Went for a drive around the block and all of a sudden lights and alarms were going off all over the place. Luckily, I got it shut off before it started making any noise.

Bottom line, don't rush! It only takes more time in the long run.

Wiping the surface down is a good idea, I'll have to remember that!

Have done this every single oil change I have ever done, granted I have never had a gasket remain stuck to the filter plate, but always wipe the surface with a clean rag
