Yep.   I had fuel rail covers loaded with signatures, and fortunately I caught it before it did too much damage.  Of course, we're talking different surfaces, but APC is pretty strong stuff.  Can you spray some clear coat over top of it maybe? That would protect it.

As stated above, if you want to keep it, I would avoid going over it with almost anything. APC is a degreaser made to remove tough dirt spots. Any of our polishes have micro abrasives that could also remove it. Even Brilliant Glaze has a mild solvent in it. Detail Spray with a plush microfiber towel might be an option.

 

Is it on the underside of the hood or the exterior side of the hood?

If you only plastidip the section over the signature, you will have to be careful while wiping over it to avoid peeling up the plastidip.  Can you post a picture of it?  if the underside of the hood is ribbed for support, I would recommend using a clear vinyl to wrap the whole section that the signature is in which will give you a clean look where you cannot really tell the vinyl is there.
