Jazzy1 Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Any one use an Air buffer instead of an electric? I use one at my shop when I do in house detailing because I have a compressor. I use electric when I do the mobile stuff.
0 Team Adam's Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 I tired an air compressor fed buffer once and ate right through a fiberglass test hood. Too much power! Use with caution
0 ss-truck Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 The air buffer is lighter than electric but when you consider how much more it costs to run the air compressor than it does the electric buffer , I gotta stay with the heavy electric machine .
0 jjwvette Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Never tried one...was always affraid to use one for the same reason Jason gave;)
0 Loud Pedal Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 I never tried one either but I almost bought one before I bought the electric.
0 Guest V6Power Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 The only one I ever used had been 'abused' before I got my hands on it. I could never get it to hold a steady/constant speed, nor would it crank up to a high enough speed. Other than that, it was a nice piece, easy to handle, light, and quick to stop (unlike the electric one's that continue to run after letting the trigger go). It belonged to my employer at the time, I finshed up going to Harbor Freight and buying myself an electric one and giving him his air buffer back.
