IMADreamer Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 It's generally fun driving a hopped up economy car becuase people typically don't know what the heck it is even though it's basically stock on the outside. (not under the hood though ) I've got great stories about my car and I'll bet you all do about yours too so let's here them. My personal favorite. I was at a show (not showing mind you) and these older guys in the parking lot are looking at my car talking so I hang back and kind of listen in. I hear them saying "what is it?" "it sure is sharp." etc etc. Then one walks behind to read the badging, which there is none and says "you think it's one of those new Corvettes?" to which another replies "it could be I heard they are bringing a new one out." LOL Another time a pizza guy brings a pizza to my house and says to my then gf "sweet Porsche." She just shuts the door comes in to the kitchen and says "I think the pizza guy thinks your car is a Porsche." I had a good laugh at that one too. Finally a detailing related one, the other day I posted a review of Adam's metal polish on the cobalt forum I'm a part of and this one guy who has a big chip on his shoulder says to me "I can get the same results with windex and a paper towel." LOL ah good times. So please share up some of your funny car stories because in a time where the news is mostly bad it's good to laugh a little.

bobfred44 Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 our 2000 vette has been mistasken for a new 2006. ive been asked if it was a ferarri...and had some kid yell out the window at me "hey is that vtech?" I had the same question asked of me when I first started to drive around in one of the first Saturn SKYs that was produced. The guy actually took a picture of the care from his truck as we were stopped in traffic. When I told him it was a Saturn, his reply "NO S***". I since traded it in on the turbo model and now just waiting for GM to sell Saturn. Sign of the times.
Sizzle Chest Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 When I still had the Nova, everyone said that the Procharger on it was "nitrous" or "nos". I'd hear @ shows or cruise ins: Oh look, he has nitrous! It would also be entertaining to sit back and listen to people attempt to explain all of the intake tubing running from the blower to whomever they were with! People just don't have a clue...
70'sChevyGirl Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 A guy with a tubbed out Nova thought the Big Block had a blower on it...we whipped him a few times and he wasn't happy. "Nope...no blower".
jjwvette Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I saw a Smart car going down the street the other day and his bumper sticker said....my other car is a Hummer
Krzdimond Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I was sitting at a gas station last month and a guy said to his wife "see, I TOLD you Buick still made wagons". I explained that it's a '96 and has 130K on it. He didn't believe me until I showed him the door sticker. Every show I go to I get this question about 3 or 4 times "was it hard to shoehorn that LT1 in there?" My answer is always the same. "Don't know, came from the factory like that"
Team Adam's Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I get asked often if it's a new Corvette. I tell them no - I bought a real one Number one question I get: What's your mileage? When I tell them 28 highway their jaw drops.
Rich Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I saw a Smart car going down the street the other day and his bumper sticker said....my other car is a Hummer  I do a lot of shows, and have an identical model of the car (including the custom hoodliner) on a turnstile sitting on the console inside the car. A girl came up to me and asked if we "made the car to look like the model, or made the model to look like the car?" At another car show, (professionally judged) my car was placed in the modified category. When the judging was completed, four judges returned to my car along with the head judge. The question the other four had was why my car was placed in Modified class instead of Two Seater category. The head judge's reason? Quote: " It has a trunk. Corvette's don't have trunks". I won first place.
