mjshaw130
So just curious, my brand new truck is having some body work done due to a hit and run. I know I am not allowed to use paste wax on fresh paint for 90 days but is it safe to use h2o guard and gloss and buttery wax?
0 1911A1
I know it's hard but don't put anything on it for the prescribed time. The paint has to off gas and cure completely before it is sealed at all. Kingsford
0 mc2hill
Ron gave good advice, but check with you painter to be sure. If the shop bakes the repaints, you may only have to wait a few days.
0 mjshaw130
Shop told me no paste wax. I just want to be 100% sure though. Could be a expensive mistake haha.
0 Dwhite0960
If the shop said wait I would wait just for safety. I had to struggle through it myself then I finally got to fix the hideous buffing they attempted
0 mc2hill
This topic came up in a class at Mobile Tech today. Just to be very clear - this means no wax, no sealant, no coating, no paint protection film, no paint wrap. LT1xL82
0 mjshaw130
Damn alright haha there goes those plans. how about detail spray?
0 Rich
Don't touch the paint!! Let it alone! Borrowed this from Dave (BRZN) "Polish you can do right away, they wet sand and or polish the vehicle after painted anyways. Waxing, unless really baked, wait the full 90 summer days. The solvents in the paint need the time to "gas off". If sealed in with sealant or wax the paint could do anything from nothing, to chip easier than normal, to peel off. It'll happen over time, not right away.Detail Spray? I'd err on the safe side and keep it off too. It's only 90 days. " Like This
0 Dwhite0960
Detail spray has some wax in I believe so I would steer clear as well
0 Kingsford
If they told you no paste wax, that would probably mean no sealant or coating ether.
0 Tim
I would rule out wash and wax also. LT1xL82
