Superdutytd Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Now I don't have any recent photo's of my boat but this is what it looked like after using some marine specific cleaner wax on it last summer.
70'sChevyGirl Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 That looks like a fun boat. We have a 22' Thompson that we pull the tubes behind. The poor boat is behind the pole barn shrink wrapped. I can't wait to use my Adam's products on it. I love being on the water at sunset. I can't wait to get out on the water. It is so relaxing and I really don't think about anything other than...is there still ice in the cooler.
Nitelord Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Nice looking boat. My neighbor has one in shrink wrap. I've never seen it without the wrap. I believe it's on the Chesapeake all spring, summer, fall. It sits beside his house all winter. I don't know boats, so i can't tell you what kind it is. I think it says "Choosie!" on the back. Maybe that's it's name.

Superdutytd Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 Nice Correct Craft! We have one too! 6.0L PCM motor with V-drive. Very nice looking boat, Those Vdrives are great to wakeboard behind.

Chewy Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Shrink wrapped?? They use a heat gun to plastic wrap them. Works great and it's reusable a couple of times. We had a Sunbrella cover made that covers the entire boat. Meaning you can see NO part of the boat when it's installed. The boat stayed outside two years but now stays inside. The SV-211 is also a certified ski boat as well. It's amazing that it can kick up a HUGE wake but then just as easily flatten it right out. Chris

Got any pics of that? I still think keeping it in a garage is the best way. I personally would not keep a 50k boat outside.

They just tore it off before you saw it. Chris
Superdutytd Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 Ahh I see its just like what they came with. I actually did get to see my boat right after it came in, which was cool. I'm actually surprised at how much prep they have to do to one before it goes out to the customer.
11chevz71 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I wish my john boat had paint that had a clear coat so i could polish it.
Tundra5-0 Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Is there anything special you need to polish a boat? I have a co-worker who is asking me to clean and polish his boat.
Chewy Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Just make sure it doesn't have silicon in it. (Adams doesn't) and if it's fiberglass you should use a old school rotational buffer to help heat the surface and remove oxidation. If it's pristine than a DA will work. I plan to do ours and will start with the SHR then the MP and then the MW. Should work well as our boat is in really good condition. Silicon causes fiberglass to yellow.
Tundra5-0 Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I'm learning the acronyms MP=Machine Polish, MW=Machine Wax, but SHR? Thanks
Superdutytd Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 Not to throw off an Adams polishes as they AREN'T meant for this type of work but to take much of anything off of Gelcoat you might need something a bit more than SHR. To polish it up and make it shinier SHR works great but not so much for taking too many scratches out. You can but it takes a lot of work. I'll post up pics in a couple of days.
Chewy Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I find 3M finesit (sp?) with a buffer works the bees knees. On our boat which is well kept and indoors from Sept to May and covered the rest of the year Adams products will work fine. Adam assured me that they DO NOT have silicon in them. It's going to make a mess of my pads though... lol The better the boat (more $$$) the better the gel coat. I've learned this over the years. Chris
Superdutytd Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 I'm trying some M105 on my boat this weeekend. It's a nice boat so according to Chris its still going to be a pain, LOL
Superdutytd Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 Amazing, simply amazing, more pics tomorrow.
whiterp199 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I wish my john boat had paint that had a clear coat so i could polish it. I thought the same, but the glare would probably give me away to all the ducks.
Chewy Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Amazing, simply amazing, more pics tomorrow. Told ya! I grew up on boats... If it's been done I've seen it or tried it... lol Chris
70'sChevyGirl Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Its the time of year to put our boat away. We are shrink wrapping it this week and putting it into storage til the Spring.
