Well yesterday 3/15/09 I spent a good 7-8 hours working on my car. Starting with the wheels and tires I pulled out my 19" summer rubber and cleaned and waxed the wheels. Then I installed them onto the car, taking off the cheap ugly 17" wheels with Blizzaks that were on there. Then I popped the hood and sprayed it down with a bit of all purpose cleaner and let sit for a second or two. I scrubbed it all down and then rinsed. Came out beautiful but I have no pics. Then I moved on to the car... Ugh... This was going to be a sum B. A whole winter of snow, salt, sand and only a couple of days during the winter to truly clean it and clay the bad spots left a pretty bad off car. See hood shots for scratches which were mainly caused by some A hole that decided to do a Dukes of Hazard style hood slide on it.:mad::mad: So I got it washed (twice) and then dried. Then the back breaking part started I pulled out the Adam's clay which is MUCH harder than the Griot's clay I am accustomed to and I like it better. I clayed the car from the top to the bottom including the windows! Then I pulled out the DA and started in. (this being my first time using it) I started on the hood with the orange pad and S&H remover. It got rid of the scratches but put a lot of VERY small hazy scratches in it. (which surprised me actually) I then moved onto the white pad and the machine polish. I only did the hot spots with the S&H as this car is my daily driver so perfection isn't going to happen. I LOVED the machine polish. After about 3 hours of the machine polish I moved on to the machine wax and it worked great too. After I got it removed with help from some detail spray I glazed the car which just made every thing pop that much more. The pics below show the car with NO glaze and with NO VRT on the tires and NO under carriage spray. (YET)

So now I have a VERY shiny car :banana:and a VERY sore back! :(

Sorry for the bad pics but I started at 10am and finished at right around 7 so light was fading.

Oh and for what it's worth... The G8 paint is pretty crappy. I think they put one coat of base and MAYBE 2 clears on it. It's VERY thin and not very smooth IMO.

Thanks! You can buy used ones pretty reasonably! Insurance for you may be a killer as I remember you being pretty young. Right?

Chris, the G8 looks great. Wait until you get to my age and spend that 8-10 hours on your car! I did the same thing a weekend ago and my body is still telling me about it. Have you ever clayed the car? It sure made a HUGE difference on my G8. I am curious about you comment about getting the Superwax off with the help of some Detail Spray. Can you elaborate? I have found that one of the greatest things about Adams stuff is the ease of getting it off.

Not sure why but the SW comes off a lot harder than the buttery wax does so I took it off as much as possible and then used a light spritz of DS to remove the rest. Worked the bee's knees.

I DID clay it. I left that step out... (edited it in though)

I have clayed every car I've owned since 1998 or so. It's a great way to get the wax to stick to the PAINT and not the dirt.

Oh and I had back surgery last May so I know what back pain is... I ended up strapping on my back support. Danm car is LOW! My truck would be a dream being that it sits so high!

Thanks! Keep in mind this car isn't solid black! It's a dark graphite or Phantom Black.

It has metallic in it.

Not bad for a Black G8 Chris.

Now that the Red one is out of hibernation, we'll be more active over here and getting her all detailed up for the Hot rod Power tour.

I stole this smiley from the forum. Can you add it to ours? :D

Nice and shiny Chris. I've been waiting for the weather to change around here to start using all these Adams products gathering dust in the garage! Can't beat a freshly cleaned/waxed black vehicle.

Hey Chris, your G8 looks fantastic!

So, the reason that the Super Wax comes off harder: It's a sealant, and unfortunately, requires a bit more elbow grease to remove. (The upside: It lasts and lasts and lasts and la . . . . . . . . . .)

Did you use the Microfiber Towel over the Polisher program for the first go-round? That helps quite a bit.

Still, I'd like to help you get the haze out completely if it's still visible. Let me know if you care to hang in the garage with me on the phone, and we'll get you 100% happy with the finish.

Thanks Adam but I think it's all about putting more time in and believe it or not I have a life outside of detailing my car. lol It's a DD so it's not EVER going to be perfect and the paint is really not good quality. I am spoiled by my parents BMW's which must have 40 layers of paint or something... lol

I know my paint isn't perfect but I am OK with that.

I appreciate your offer!

I'm thinking that using the SHR with the white pad with some MP on it may help next time.

I can still see small scratches all over the car when under those dang lights at the grocery store parking lot but it's really not that bad. I am uber picky. lol

If you do a shine show somewhere near me I will try to make it there to see it.

Next is my 1998 F-150... It's in great condition and IT has good paint!

No good ones! :willy:

I ordered this from the factory the summer of '97 and got it as a '98 model year at the end of September. It WAS a daily driver but now is just my garage queen... lol It pulls the bikes and the boat but it only get maybe 1000 miles on it a year. It's a shame really...

Haha a 1000 miles a year. This 2008 truck was the first rig in a LONG time that we haven't custom ordered. The price was just too good.

Your rig is stupid awesome!

I usually like getting them from the factory so that I don't have to contend with the scratches the dealer put on them... lol
