Adam's polish provides amazing paint correction on black Porsche!

IXLR*

Question

My daughter went over to Adam's and got a box of products for me as a Christmas gift. Today, we had a nice warm day here in Colorado, so I thought I'd give this stuff a try on the Porsche. I had previously been trying to get scratch out by hand, with polish from another company and ended up with almost like a hologram of varying scratches - a real mess. I whined about it to my daughter - hence the gift. I've watched all the youtube video's by Adam on how to machine polish and began by washing and claying. Started with the white finish polish/white pad (just being careful). Paint looked better, but deeper scratches remained. Upgraded to orange correction polish on an orange pad and viola, after a couple passes all the scratches that I was unable to remove by hand were gone leaving an amazing finish! Water spots were gone too!! Then went back over it with the finish polish/white pad and OMG, the finish now reflects like a black mirror!! I never even needed to use any of the blue heavy polish or the microfiber pad included in the box. So far, I've only done the rear fender and half the trunk (these were the most scratched areas - now perfect), but the products are so easy to use I can't wait to do more! IMHO, THESE ADAMS PRODUCTS FLAT OUT WORK LIKE MAGIC ON BLACK PORSCHE PAINT.

My question is, once I get the rest of the car paint corrected, what kind of sealant should I use to protect it? (would like more durability than wax). Can I put sealant on directly over the polished finish, or are there other steps? Also, since I may not be able to get back to polishing for awhile should I do something to wash my orange and white pads?

Adams Liquid Paint Sealant would provide you with long lasting durability. You will need a gray pad to apply it with your polisher. I would wash your pads if it is going to be awhile before using them again. Post a picture of your Porsche!

Exactly what Thorsager said.

Sounds like a pretty awesome Christmas gift for sure!

Before you put wax or sealant on,  you need to remove all the polish and residue.  You can achieve this a few ways, wash the car, use isopropyl alcohol wipe down, or Adams coating prep.

You may also want to use a paste wax like Americana or Patriot after the sealant, this will give you a thicker layer to help prevent scratches,  I learned that from one of Adams videos (i think it was an americana video)

Thanks everyone!! I like the idea of following the sealant with a wax, or maybe even ceramic with a wax - all great ideas!

Sorry I didn't get a before picture with all the scratches and halo damage. Hopefully this after shot of the previously damaged area shows you the results. Now, all that can really be seen is a reflection of my garage ceiling with garage door opener and florescent lights - no kidding, this finish is like a black mirror!

Welcome from Colorado Springs, Dave! Be sure to post an intro in the New member thread.

Nice work. You owe your daughter a dinner for the Adam's intro...although she did just create a whole new source of debt!

Wax for that black would certainly create the deepest, wettest look. But my recommendation for longer lasting protection is the Paint Sealant, maintained with HGG every few washes or so. Coating would be the next step up and give you the longest protection Adam's offers (note Adam applies it to a black Porsche in the coating video). Here's a great article on the differences, and it also discusses layering:

You'll want to clean your pads for sure. To find out how, read/watch this:

Two more tips:

1) Pick up some Brilliant Glaze. You think that black shines now? Just wait....... B)

2) Make time to visit Adam's HQ. Awesome place to go, and they will take the time to show you around, answer questions, and hook you up with the products you need to take care of your ride.
