shine on Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 okay, it was difficult to come up with a title for what I want to say, but odd seemed to cover it. odd meaning not usual, not meaning weird. so, I just got home form detailing a bone stock '07 Buick Rendezvous. anyone else detailed one of these babys? don't get me wrong, I'd never look down on a job - I just thought it was an odd car to be detailing. they just bought it and it was pretty squeaky clean already form the dealership. they're good friends and I'm thankful they offered me the job. I just couldn't help thinking about all of us here on the site and wondering if anyone else had detailed this ride.
Baron_Von_Awesome Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Never detailed that one specifically, but I have had some "odd" and "not usual" details, including: A steering wheel with no car attached; a car with no steering wheel attached; an early 90's Honda Civic that was 70% primer paint and 30% unpainted body kit (which actually turned out nice - no swirl marks! ), a set of tires (no rims); a set of rims (no tires); a leather sofa, and several computer cases. I did do a Flying Spur (which is so HUGE each one has its own postal code) last summer that was completely perfect - it didn't even need to be washed, but the owner insisted in HAD to be fully detailed. It was the most disappointing job I've done to date because when I finished, the car looked EXACTLY the same as it did before I started
Rich Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Did you find it odd because it's an SUV? Or because it was fairly new and clean? I think every car, truck or suv is deserving of a good detail now and then. In todays economy, we may spend a little more for a good detail, but then again, we have to hold onto our vehicles a bit longer.

I agree that every car is deserving of a good detail.
Rich Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 We have a buick dealership about 5 miles from my house and those things are like flies around here. You see one every time you go out the door. Guess they're not so common in your area. If I had to detail a Ferarri, then that would be odd in my area. No fancy cars around here.
Marylander Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 (edited) I once spent the better part of a day claying, machine polishing and detailing my wife's POS 1997 Civic. She curbs the wheels, attracts dings like a magnet, and generally ignores it's appearance care. It's a decent car mechanically, but this detail session was basically an exercise in "polishing a turd". It ended up being a very shiny, clean, and detailed banged-up, neglected honda. PS -- I only really did it to use up some of my old, Non-Adam's products. Edited March 20, 2009 by MarylandTDI

jjwvette Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 I'm detailing a horse trailer tomorrow? Now thats odd
Marylander Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Now thats odd  As long as he doesn't try to detail the horse. I bet it's impossible to get them to stand still while you work 'em with a PC.
Rich Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 As long as he doesn't try to detail the horse. I bet it's impossible to get them to stand still while you work 'em with a PC. Yeah, especially under the tail!!
Superdutytd Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 As long as he doesn't try to detail the horse. I bet it's impossible to get them to stand still while you work 'em with a PC. Spray em down with GWC and throw on some buttery wax!
