Polishing pads

Moroni27

Question

I want to know which pads to use for the best results when getting rid of the swirl marks. I have the 15mm swirl killer with the microfiber pad, blue and orange pad. I want to know what I use each pad for? Thanks guys

Hey Moroni. Welcome to the forum! Don't forget to check-in at the New Member section!

The pad selection is pretty easy when it comes to Adam's products. The pads are color coded to the polishes that Adam's sells.

The blue is for the HEAVY CORRECTING COMPOUND. The orange is for the CORRECTING POLISH. The white is for the FINSIHING POLSIH.

The microfiber pad is going to be for heavier scratch removal, where as the foam will be for lighter scratch removal.

I typically use the microfiber pad for headlight lens restoration.

Tyler has your pad-to-product question sorted, but wanted to remind everyone that you should use the least aggressive method possible.

Mark off a 2 ft. x 2 ft. section with painters tape, usually on the hood or trunk lid.  Start with the white pad and finishing polish to see if that gets you the desired results.  If not happy, do that combo again before stepping up to the next, more aggressive combo - orange pad + Correcting Polish.  And the same with CP before stepping up the Heavy Correcting Compound.

Clear coat is thin, so leave as much as possible!

Hey, Moroni. I'll add a bit more to the great inputs above. While they are color-coded, you can interchange polishes and pads. For example, the Microfiber pad can be used with both the Heavy Correcting Compound and the Correcting Polish. Another caveat is that 1-Step Polish can be used with all the pads. All of them can be used with the 15mm SK, assuming you have the correct sized pads.
