Spoonbill
Hey all. How in the world do you clean the wheel barrels on custom rims when you can’t fit your hand or a brush between the spokes and you have no way to get the car in the air?? Any help would be great. Thanks
BrianT
The best you can do is to take the wheels off one by one and coat them, that way it’s possible to get them as clean as possible with just water.

falcaineer
First, welcome! I'm pretty sure he means to use a ceramic or Graphene Ceramic Coating on them. It'll make it so much easier to keep clean, but there are steps needed before you do if you decide to go that route.
Spoonbill
Ok, cool. Is there anyway you could put the steps in here and walk me through it??
GXPaycheck
First of all, welcome! You need to go to the Adams videos on coatings and start there. To do coatings correctly takes some study. Pics of the wheels would help. You have no way to get them off the car? Right now it sounds like you just want to clean them. How dirty are they? Is it all brake dust? You might be able to get away with using soap, wheel cleaner, and a pressure washer but even then you won’t get it all. Another question is what are they made of and what kind of finish. Some finishes and chemicals don’t mix. And clean.

Thanks Welcome to the forum. You have two options really to do clean the wheel tubs. First, invest in something like Adam's wheel woolies. This is how you get behind spokes. The second option, and is really only necessary in extreme cases, would be to remove the wheels one by one from the car and clean by hand. Either way you will want a wheel woolie going forward. Brain T stated that a coating (aka ceramic coating or a dedicated wheel ceramic coating) is the only thing you can do about that. These types of coatings make your wheels look cleaner, pop a little more, don't attract near as much grime and are noticeably quicker/easier to clean. To be clear, your wheels need to be surgically clean prior to install of a coating like this. What I mean by surgically clean is using a wheel cleaner, clay, polish using the appropriate polish, wipe then you can apply the wheel ceramic. To me, doing a wheel coating seems like an "after the fact" situation IF you wanted to.
