Adams Graphene Advanced Ceramic Coating Water Spots After Rain

After spending a lot of money and getting my Range Rover coated a week later we get a rain and the hood looks like this?  What happened to the water beeding off the paint?  Going to wash it today. Can’t wait to see what a little rain did to this ceramic coating that was suppose to protect my paint.

Coatings are not a miracle product.  Wash it and report back.  In general rain does not cause water spotting.

There are a lot of potential factors at play here. Please don't take this as condescending, just trying to get to the heart of the matter - Was this your first time using a coating? What did you do to prep? What products did you use during each step? What process did you follow to apply it? The more details the better to help us, help you...

It sounds like he had it done and did'n't do it himself.

Obviously something wasn't applied correctly. Or if you had it done somewhere, they didn't do what they were supposed to do.  Ceramic coated vehicles won't look like that ater rain.  Or it may, if there was a lot of smoke or pollutants in the air when it rained.  That almost looks like wet ash.

A quality ceramic shouldn’t look that way after a rain storm, unless there was something else in the air or the car itself was filthy.  That being said, any ceramic can have water spotting from rain.

I think your best answer is going to be to take it back to whoever applied it and have them fix it. Because it's clear to everyone that it wasn't done right.............if at all.

How dusty and dirty was the car before the rain. Cause I do remember seeing something similar years ago on one of my vehicles that was really dusty. We had the lightest rain that only lasted for about a minute at the most and then the hot sun came out again. Enough to wet the paint but not enough to run or wash anything off.

 

I would wash it and then lightly spray water on it after it dries to see what it does

I'm not sure how many people in here has actually experienced a rain storm with a slight dirty car coated and how it looks afterwards, kinda looks like his picture. Coatings are not everything you think they are. I had a Ceramic coating , not a Graphene and IF I allow my car to get dirty and then let it get hit by rain, it spots all day.

 

 The spots can be removed quite easily IF you get to them soon BUT IF you leave them on there for weeks, they will etch into the paint and you will have to either polish or compound / Polish them out and then have to re apply a coating.

 

 I get a little tired of people thinking coating are the be all end all of keeping your paint perfect. The ONLY way to do so is have a Garage Queen. Any car that has to sit outside will get spots IF you have any industrial fall out , acid rain etc. YES the coating greatly help protect but they are not bullet proof.

 

 I wish Coating would Sheet the water off instead of BEADING. Beading looks cool but those beads don't all run off, sometimes they sit there and dry out and then leave water marks.

And when people see sheeting they see how underwhelming it is with the slow sheeting water and not having the best self cleaning.

Do you know what as all over the car before the rain?

Mine will look like that during pollen season and a misty rain and it just rinses right off.  Knowing what was there before what it looks like after a actual rinse with some water volume will tell us a lot.

What if the car caught a rain a few hours after it was coated with Adam graphene ceramic?  Do I have to start over by re-polishing the car?  Thank you very much.  I am hoping it will not be that bad after tonight raining

Which version did you apply, traditional/small bottle or the spray? The small bottle needs 24 hours to cure, the spray 4-6, before any moisture is safely allowed to touch the surface. Then wait 5-7 days before washing.

 

You don't necessarily need to start over, but it should be dried off immediately to avoid potentially having the water cure in the coating which could lead to a fish-eye effect that can only be removed by removing the coating, ie starting over.
