What is going on with my wheels?

Question

Hi everyone,

I’m fairly new to the detailing world and absolutely love all of the Adams products. However, I am having an issue cleaning my wheels and I’m not sure why.

My process is below..

1) rinse wheels and tires

2) spray eco APC on tires (per the CO store recommendation) and let sit for a minute

3) spray eco wheel cleaner on wheels and let sit for a minute

4) use the double wheel and tire brush to clean the tires (small side) and rims (big side)

5) use the small barrel brush to clean the inside

6) rinse throughly after each wheel

7) wash rest of car and then dry at the end

I’ve attached two photos (I know, I did a mediocre job on the wheels but I have a bad back so bending over sucks.) In the first photo, there are all these little orange specs all over the wheels and I have no idea where they’re coming from. They brush right off, but I would think residue from one of the tools?

In the second photo, the brush is destroying the tires. It’s borderline scratching them.

Does anyone know what the orange things could be? And what can I be doing differently to not have these scratches? Lastly, how do you all keep water spots from getting on the rims?

Happy to add more tools to the arsenal if I need them!

Thanks - I did read that earlier!

I used the mini towel for water spots, and it was better but not perfect. The article doesn’t mention the scratching on tire or the orange particles though.
