I wonder where I will get my parts when GM goes away for good? This really does make me sad. I mean this is the best you could do?

Actually, this is the best they can do:

If they designed and built every car with as much passion and thoughtfulness as they did with the ZR1, they wouldn't be in as much trouble as they are now.

Agreed. I've honestly never been a Vette guy but there is no doubt they build them to excellence and with a passion like few other automakers can claim. It would be nice to see them put this kind of effort into other cars.

Corvette-World Beater

Malibu-Won numerous awards

Impala-One of the best selling cars in America

Traverse/Enclave/Acadia-Biggest most fuel efficient crossover in it's class(Enclave is beautiful)

Solstice/Sky-Class leaders in performance

Camaro-Has something for everyone

CTS-European contender

CTS-V-European Killer

G8 GXP-Kills almost everything in it's class except M5(Buy a V)

Upcoming Buick Lucerne-Beautiful sedan

Four wheel segway=STUPID agreed

I don't put much faith in those awards. It seems it's become like little league, everyone gets an award for participating. I don't put much into magazines either who show obvious bias.

I agree that GM has made huge strides in the last 5 or so years. I commented in bold. :) I like GMs lineup and as I said in another thread if I were looking for a family car right now I'd be in heaven with them because they have everything covered. You also left off the Aveo, and I know it's a super cheap car but I actually spent a few hours in one not long ago and I was surpised. It drove nice and was comfortable. I asked the guy who owned it how much it cost and I was shocked. It's good value if you only need to go from A to B with no frills.

However I think this segway PUMA thing sums up GM. They are sorta lost when it comes to actually innovating or leading. They've sorta of caught up really, but not really leading the way. They still use basically old technology on their engines and there isn't much innovation in the pipeline. Granted the newer DI engines are nice and promising but again they are just playing catch up. The volt is promising certainly but it looks like it will be pricey which is going to miss the mark. I know it won't happen but if they could price that around the level of the Cruze, OMG would they sell them like hotcakes. Granted I'm sure they will sell some now but not like they could.

I like the the Segway Puma... It's a pretty ingenious idea actually. It shows GM thinking outside the box.

GM DOES have a lot of good vehicles.

I have a 2009 G8 and I LOVE it. For the money it's hard to beat. With very little work I have it over 400bhp at the crank. All that in a 32,000 dollar car... The suspension is pretty good as well, but I have an issue with a strut bushing going South and it makes noise. Nothing Pedders and some $$$ can't fix right? lol

It's the small stupid things like this strut bushing that people hate (including me). Would it be fixed under warranty? Sure. I just don't trust the stealer to touch my car.

I think Ford has done a great job lately with their cars as well. Chrysler... Not so much... Sorry... The Ram is nice though.

30 years from now that Puma thing may be the way we get around small towns and communities. I'm sure a lot of people laughed at companies like Motorola and TI when they started messing around with the idea of a portable phone back in the 70s or whenever. Innovation takes some guts, some trial and error, some failures and some ridicule... but if no one ever tried anything new we'd still be walking or riding horses. :2thumbs:

We already have something like that, they are essentially over sized golf carts that run on electricity. They are all over my town. In 30 years we better have flying cars. lol

And once you see the interior that is sad.

And chrome wheels :( (sorry, it's a weight thing. Extra unsprung weight for the sake of "bling" has no part on a performance car.)

The Vettes performance is amazing. It really is. No one can argue with that. But then again so is the price. Six Figures!- for a........Vette. :lolsmack:

Then again the SRT-4 performance is great too, but at the end of the day, you're driving a Neon. I never understood the outrageously priced tuner Mustang models either. The Saleens and all that. Again, sure awesome performing cars- no one is arguing that. But why spend Vette money on a Mustang.

I don't getting spending ones cars class money on a "lesser" car. Like spending Vette money on a mustang, or used Gallardo money on a Vette. (and I wouldn't spend Neon money on the GTR. lol) Yeah I know the Vette owns all for the bench racing trophey. I wonder how many guys are actually ever going to drive them on the track. Personally I think the ZR1 takes a hit looks wise over the Z06. It looks more "tarted up" with more stuff tacked on for the sake of it being a special model. For the money I'd take the better looking Z06 and dump $20K in supercharger, suspension, brakes, wheels and tires and then you have a world beater for a great value.

That's only my opinion though, and I guess you get what you paid for it.

I believe GM quality & products, dollar for dollar, is on par with anything from any manufacturer. We just all have different thresholds.

Anyhow, has anyone seen the new GM Rally Cap commercials? As the resident GM enthusiast here at work I was getting crap first thing this morning over the commercials. I don't watch much TV, or wear baseball caps, but found the commercial. What a pitiful idea for advertising. I could almost see it as a in house employee incentive program - but national advertising campaign? I'm hoping there is something better behind this that I don't know about yet.

This thing really is pathetic! There are trucks in WV big enough to drive over top of this and clear it with no problem, and what about the safety, although it appears it was made for sidewalk strolling:lol: I'm pretty sure that James Harrison from the Pittsburgh Steelers could pick this thing up and throw it!!

No offense but you just told almost everybody in my family they drive big stupid vehicles, and some on this forum. You must care alot about gas prices but I think thats the DNC talking. lol. Drive a new Silverado with the 6.2 liter 6 speed tranny combo and tell me what you think, your family might be buyin' Chevys. J/K :D And not that I'm into the compact sports car class but the turbo Sky and Solstice smoke the Miata.

Well, I agree and I disagree... but you have to realize that every vehicle is a compromise of numerous factors... economy, performance, style, cost, longevity, practicality, etc. And i gotta tell you, those Lotus cars you love pretty much epitomize automotive compromise... Stellar on the track, but not much real world value for 99.999% of the motoring public.

That's what I love about it. :burnout:

It IS my practical car though. The rainy day car. For REAL fun, nothing beats the bike! (well I do have an old BMW hatchback with an M3 front end I sometimes haul tires and stuff in, but I try to drive it as little as possible and usually just leave it with my Dad)

Hell Yeah with the miata they would not stand a chance. insted of the new 6.2 drive like a 2007 classic with a 8.1 with the 5 speed allison

It was beautiful here today and I ended up putting about 100 miles on the vette and loved every second of it. Except when I had to go home and install my front plate so I could get my state inspection sticker :help:

I use those 3M stick on things that you stretch and they release. It just has to be on there for the sticker then I pull it back off before I leave the parking lot :lol:

Of course after I get a ticket for it I will have to actually mount it on for good :mad::mad:

But at least it goes out on good days so there is not a big of a chance getting caught. at least here in pa we only have one.

They just want them on in MA so they can get us with laser easier. Anything to take in a few extra bucks for the state :mad::mad:

It all about the cash. Doesnt matter about anything else.

I also think that front plates are required because somebody, somewhere in the government has a really ugly car and wants all the people with good looking cars to suffer.
