Cyclone Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 There was a point in my life, that I could watch the Barrett-Jackson Auction on TV and just drool over the cars... Now I criticize all the swirl marks I see on cars selling for 100K plus, and they guys pushing them that are not wearing gloves and still have wedding rings on

Adam Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Well Ty, I've got a solution for you: have a look at the RM Auction, and you won't be so disappointed my friend! BJ has about 250 amazing cars go through each year, and the rest look like they were finished with a rattle-can, or, driven through the car wash the day of the auction. Greasy tires and all! RM and Gooding is where the super nice stuff crosses the block, check it out! http://www.RMauctions.com http://www.GoodingCo.com (Less swirl marks for sure!)

IMADreamer Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 My body shop guy who sells stuff at BJ every year has a saying "BJ is not a barometer for the hobby, it's a barometer for how stupid rich people are." lol He has told me several times how over rated most of the cars there are.
jjwvette Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I do the same when I'm at a car show, but I also get asked what I use on my car and where can they get it
Adam Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Too funny, and often very true! Remember, Vegas gives you free booze so that little things like good judgment and sharp decision making remain stifled. BJ offers free booze to all bidders as well, maybe to to stifle as well?? THey like it when the bidders can not make a rational decision they just bid and bid.
livingwater Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I agree...A little education from Adams is causing me to second look at how people are detailing their vehicles. I went to the http://www.autoshowny.com/ and was amazed how awful the finish on some of the vehicles were. They had guy's wiping down the finger prints using what look like a furniture polishing rag and windex. Several of the vendors were trying to push their "All in one" wax, polish and swirl remover:confused: I watch them apply the product on a hood and then wipe it off, however you could still see the haze and swirl marks. I was told you have to look directly down on it ...Not from the side:(
