I've been a Adams Fan since Adam started and use all his products for my show trucks "Elvira" and "Big Bird. Big Bird is a Ford F150 Boss 5.4. There were only 500 made and mine is number 422. And below is a Adams 2 Page Magazine add with Elvira. Sorry I have it in plastic which causes the glare. Greez Lightning Posted April 20, 2009 Author Share Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) Thndrrr, Ford for what ever reason decided to make 500 F150 Trucks Called the Boss 5.4. in 2001. They are all yellow and black and all look exactly alike. There is no F150 badges or insignias anywhere on the truck. Just the Boss 5.4 badges on the sides, back and stiched on the leather seats. The modifications to the truck are a custom snake eye hood, dark gray and yellow leather interior, Yellow carbon fiber pieces on the interior, Custom 20 inch wheels, tail light grills, front bumper cover and running boards with side moldings. The truck comes with the 5.4 Triton motor of course and they sold new for 38,000. I picked this one up in New Jersey in Feb of 08 for 15K. It was in pretty good shape with only 50K miles on it. So I flew out and drove it to Los Angeles and restored it to new by doing some painting to the front end and hood to clean up the chips from rocks and such and refreshing the paint where needed. Then I put a whole new exhaust system with High Performance cats. All new brakes front and rear with new rotors and a new set of tires. Total cost was only 2500. Now its showroom fresh. Ford also made another 500 of these in 2003 in Orange and black with the same paint scheme. Ford never made anymore after that. Each is numbered in the driver door jam. So now your up to date. Anyway I sort of took things into my own hands and built a 633 RWHP and 718 RWT motor into the L. The cost was thru the roof. Dont think I would ever do that again. The 633 RWHP Run was done on 116 Octane Fuel. The motor made 575 RWHP on Pump Gas. The block itself is the only stock part on the entire motor. Greez Lightning Posted April 21, 2009 Author Share Posted April 21, 2009 Hey Shane whats doin? Yeah when I went looking for a Boss I found about 12 for sale all over the USA. Now I only can find one. So I guess I was lucky in that I had a large group from which to choose. I only know of one other in California and he was in Ford Truck World and went to shows with me. He was the one who introduced the Boss to me and I always liked it even though the color is screaming Give Me a Ticket to every cop in the US. I had a Red Ferrari and never got stopped. Ive been stoppend 4 times in one year with the Boss. And all were stupid things like tinted windows. So Id say the yellow color does have its drawbacks but I still like it. Wicked fast it isn't. Ok I have the original 235hp 5.4L in my 1998 F-150 4x4 and fast it isn't either... By any stretch of the imagination. I would love to have Livernois "tune" it up a bit... They are all over the internet and many are very low priced. Most Lightings have about 80 to 99k miles on them but you can find some low mileage ones too. SVT01LIGHTNING Posted April 21, 2009 Share Posted April 21, 2009 those are some nice L's.....this was years back when he wanted one....he wanted to find one local but he couldnt because it was in that 99-04 stretch when they were still in production and no one wanted to sell them haha I bought my 2001 for $20,000 with 50K on it from the last Ford dealership i was working for. Superdutytd Posted April 21, 2009 Share Posted April 21, 2009 Yea a few years back they were pulling a premium for L's. There is (or was now hopefully) a BEAUTIFUL DSG Lightning on Modularfords.com. It only had like 25k on it and it was an 03 and was just mint. I really wanted to buy it from him but couldn't justify having a mustang, Lightning, and a Superduty.
