Question

Posted

Hey everyone, I believe I know the answer already but wanted to confirm and get some specific advice on this one.

I have two coats of the graphene spray coating on brand new satin black Method wheels. I want to remove the coating in order to Hyper Dip the wheels to protect them for the winter (road salt and snow).

I know the Hyper Dip won't adhere with the coating on there, so what is the best way to remove the graphene coating before application? Will Adams Polish be sufficient to remove it, or do I have to use compound?

Thanks in advance.

First, welcome!

Unfortunately, since they're satin, polishing them runs a very real risk of affecting/changing the finish. How long has the coating been on there?

That's also a concern. Coating has been on a few weeks

Unfortunately, you will need to polish to remove any coating. I definitely do not recommend that you do so and instead need to wait until the coating wears away over time. Luckily, wheels tend to take a beating and thus coatings do not usually last as long as they do on the car.

Unfortunately I already figured that was my only reasonable option, I was just hoping someone would tell me something I didn't know!

Thanks for the confirmation man, I appreciate it.
