FMP vs Revive vs. Meguiar's #80

DenaliDan

Question

I have been using Adam's Revive Polish and Meguiar's #80 Speed Glaze on my vehicles depending on which car (clearcoat or non-clearcoat) and what I felt was necessary to get the results I was after. Now, I've got the FMP and wondering how it compares to the other two products in cut and where I should fit it in. Any suggestions?

FMP is an extremely low cut product best used as a finishing polish. I know from experience you can finish down with #80, but I think personally FMP does a better job as a FINAL polish. Great for taking out the minor marring left behind by heavier products.

I personally work the product as usual at 5-6 on the white pad using normal pressure and as it breaks down slowly back the pressure off. Using it that way glosses the finish very nicely and on flake paint jobs almost makes the paint seem to change color slightly in direct sunlight.

I noticed neither of you mentioned using the Revive. Going from my experience, it doesn't seem to be a real necessity in most applications. Instead just going from SHR (if needed) to FMP and then to SMW and maybe Buttery Wax to top it all off. Thanks for your comments.

I like a paint cleaner after polishing. I have always used Meguiar's Deep Crystral Paint Cleaner. Gave me a nice glow. Once wax was applied, the shine was unreal.

Now, that product is being disco'ed. Once I use up my last bit I am moving onto revive polish. It could be me and I love making more work for myself, but I swear I see a difference when I don't do a paint cleaner stage. Ah well, goes on easy with the PC and comes off easy too. I am sure Revive Polish does equally if not better and cleaning up the paint.

Adams products are in a league of their own. :2thumbs:

I would think so.. but I do it anyways. I use it at least twice a year for my seasonal details. Srping/Fall. I have been doing that since my black 97 Taco days. I feel guilty if I don't do it now lol. I think if you do one panel as a side by side.. I think you will see that glow I tallk about.
