Crappy Day

This day really stinks. First reason, I found a scratch on the side of my truck that is about 3 feet long. It starts right at the end of the passenger side rear door and goes to the back of the wheel well. I was so ticked (PC word) off. So I made a call to my friendly detailing guru (thanks Adam) and I followed his advice.

I started with the 4" orange pad with SHR and that was doing a great job. Still I could see the scratch so I switched to the Yellow 4" pad. The yellow pad was working great and I started to cheer up. Here is the second reason that day is a crappy one. My 4" backing plate BROKE AGAIN. The treads of the backing plate stripped right out. I was soooooooo ticked (there is that word again) off. Not only did I have a scratch the length of a snake but now I can't finish getting it out becuase my 4" backing plate is down and out.

So now I'm in the house feeling like I was just kicked in the you know what. Well thanks for listening to me vent.

Hey Rob, we all have days like that. Just remeber tomorrow will be better, just hang in there. :2thumbs:

I hear you... sounds frustrating just reading it. PM me your email if you want -- I have an extra backing plate and I could sent it out to you tonight -- coming from MD it will get to you faster than one for the warehouse.

I'm also thinking maybe it would be a good idea to use some threadlock when attaching the shaft to the backing plate -- that might prevent the threads from loosening and stripping.

Hey Rob,

Contact the Ashely or Steve through Orders@AdamsPolishes.com. I had the same problem and Steve fixed me up. I now have the 'new and improved' backing plate and adapters. A different design, much 'beefier'.

You can kind of see them in these pics:

Adapters and plate on top right of box:

And front from above:

Mike,

Also, where did you pick up that case? I've been looking for something like that. Thanks again.

Rob

At Joanne's (craft and fabric store). It is actually a ribbon holder but works great with the 4" pads. And the attached top unit holds the PC wrench, the backing plate, and attachments. I don't remember which brand it is - I didn't pay attention when I was swapping the sticker on it for the Adam's sticker!
