Think you're fast? Back it up!

I will contend that the fastest cars out there aren't on these made for tv shows or even on the internet. The really fast guys typically aren't drawing attention to themselves by mouthing off online or being on some gimmicky tv show. All those cars they showed are too nice and "showy" to be the kind of fast you see in those underground type racing circles. We always figure around here, bring an 8 second car or don't waste our time.

While I'm sure those cars are very fast, and certainly are beautiful. I would enjoy the show better if instead of using their super cars they showed some guys who actually build the cars themselves and are using used cars as their starting platform, not show room new cars that some big tuner shop did the wrench turing on. Plus roll racing? You can't tell me that wasn't purely to accomidate the 11 second supra with humongous turbo lag. lol

Ok my glass of hateraid is nearly empty, I'll stop. :)

Are you trying to compare cars designed to run in the 1/4 mile with cars designed to run 230mph in a standing mile? Completely different animals. Why do you think these cars are too showy? I'd say those guys thrash their cars more than any hardly streetable 8 sec muscle car. They do roll racing because most of these cars when setup to run over 200mph do not have the right tires or gear ratios to run from a dig. Many can't even put the power down until they are over 100mph. What do these 8 sec cars you speak of trap at? That Lambo trapped at what 165mph and hadn't even shifted into 5th or 6th. Compare apples to apples. Those 8 sec muscle cars would get killed running at the Texas Mile from a dig or roll racing.

Agreed. Best example that comes to MY mind is street bikes. A friend has his sprockets changed (same as gear ratio for cars) for acceleration. He runs in the mid - high 8's in the 1/4 but tops out around 160 mph. Now my bike on the other hand will go 110 mph IN FIRST GEAR! But I'm stuck high 9's - low 10 range at the dragstrip, top speed (yet to be RELIABLY verified) is comfortably over 200.

That being said... I've never been out of the 11's in a car, so I'd love to hang out where people bring 8's or it's a waste of time!!

Apples to apples. Oranges to oranges.
