Speed 6 free spinning, even for that short of time is horrible for the pads, the backing plate and the PC. Low speeds for a few seconds are more than enough to fling the water out. Only for a few seconds mind you but I can try a lower setting for longer I suppose. I'm not sure about the sun idea though. I would be worried about UV damage but I suppose that's probably minimal at most. I just know foam breaks down pretty quickly in the sun.
