Debadge fail - help needed

Derelict

Question

So anyway I was taking my rear bowtie off my TBSS. All went well until i see my friend outside "help" take some of gunk residue off (was letting the goo-gone stuff sit for a few). yadda yadda yadda it looks like a monkey with a hatchet went after the thing:eek:

Note that this is not a show truck, it's my DD, she's outside 24/7 and typically a dirty girl as much as I try to fight it.

That being said, I will need to fill the chips in and there are some nasty scratches. I'm not sure what the plan of attack will be after the fills - any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. I would rather not take it to a paint shop for this, but stuff happens :( ... any best bang-for-buck solutions would rock. (Nothing has been done to it yet):

Looks fine from 5'+ away lol.

Holy crap! I assume you didn't use fishing line and heat first? I'd just bite the bullet and have it repainted.

I did use the fishing line, but no heat, and the rest was just parts of the tape... it's just what happens when you take a hard piece of plastic to it.

OMG...did you punch him in the skull?

Hope you get it fixed to your satisfaction...this is why, no matter how good their intentions are, no one touches the vette...If I screw up, then I have no one to blame but myself.

When I did my grand prix I didnt use any heat and I went to autozone and got this goo gone sticker removal tool and go gone which the tool was simply a plastic scrapper pretty much and it worked fine for a bit then it started bending and though I didnt use any heat or fishing line about an hour later I had no scratches and or left over residue. yes my fingers did hurt when I was done but its a much smoother look and this was both doors and trunk. In the end having a friend help may sound like a good idea but I would much rather take more time and do it myself because if something gets messed up you have no one to blame but yourself.
