i have to detail a vehicle this weekend that has a messed up windshield from the owner taking a sponge with the green scrubby stuff on one side(I asked him what happened) and scrubbing the heck out of the windshield. And it has some stains from the dude spraying bug remover on the glass first while it was DRY. Wont wash off...needless to say.

eek-i am almost afraid to touch it...

I dont have a picture since I will get there Saturday morning to start on it....

any ideas...for the micro scratches?

This might sound weird but one of my friends told me that he used vinegar and a terry cloth to get rid of his water spots.

My mom used a vinegar based solution on her car. When she first purchased it nothing would strip that film off her windshield. We went thru a lot of stuff before finding something that would strip the film.

the vinegar would only temporarily clear the film and after a month or so it would return. In the end we were told to try, of all things, GLASS TOP OVEN CLEANER :(, but it worked!!!!!!!!!! No more film used a extra soft MF & the class top oven cleaner to remove film (and was amazed), then throughly cleaned the glass, then applied a glass sealant & bingo bango never had another problem :banana:

DISCLAIMER: the w0lfy takes no responsibility if damage occurs to glass using Glass Top Stove cleaner on windshields. Its prob not the product or advise anyhow that would cause damage but the technique , LMAO:lol::lol:

:burnout:

In New England we have something called Bon-Ami, it may be national though, it's a powder somewhat like Comet. Applied to a wet foam applicator it works wonders on exterior glass without scratching. Use it before washing your car, rinse COMPLETELY as you don't want it on your paint when you wash the car.

I am guilty of occasionally hitting a touchless wash during the rainy season... if for nothing more than to knock the road grime loose. Since we go so long without rain around here when it does finally start in the winter the sludge that comes off the road is nasty.

I'll hit the local touchless, then pull out, soak the truck with waterless wash and do a full wipe down. Good solution for when I know its probably just gonna rain again in the next few days.

Clay will take it off! And stay away form those Auto car washes!:lolsmack:
Ha ha....I personally never use them.....there is no way to clean a car without without the use of Adam's high quality products and a soft wash mitt!!!!!!

That reminds me, I need to pay my water bill!!!!

Could it be really hard water in that car wash? Mix that with soaps and a poor rinse...sounds probable.

Have you washed the vehicle and it's still on there?

A yes to that I am sure....he stated that the car wash didn't rinse properly.
