StormChaser
So this weekend I celebrated my birthday weekend. Saturday was day 2 of the celebration and I was at my friends house for a BBQ. Well he ran out of ice and Pepsi and so I went to the 7-11. I always reverse into parking space and last night was no different. I backed in and locked up the SS. There was this nasty looking guy who was mumbling **** to me about my truck. I just ignored him and was walking past him as he tried to grab my arm. He demanded the key to my truck and was pretty forceful. I only had my keys in my hand. My CC was in my pocket, purse in the SS. Thank GOD. Anyway this guy got really mouthy and so I set off the panic on the SS which brought attention to us. I had my friend's switchblade knife and I pulled it out. I screamed "THIS WHITE B**CH WILL F**K YOU UP. NOW BACK THE F**K UP." and OMG he did! HAHA I didn't think he was armed - he smelled like a homeless guy and I got lucky. He wasn't armed but no quicker than I got inside the store did he disappear. Interesting night but I still have my SS! I did have to have a shot of patron to calm my nerves. Now I am going to see if the fellas on my TBSS local group will teach me how to shoot a gun. I want to get a gun and a concealed weapons permit and a knife of my own. Though I really don't want to be close enough to use the knife. Hindsight that was probably pretty stupid of me to do that but instinct kicked in....I really felt like I had no control over my actions. So very weird. DanFish
Thank god your OK! There are too many crazy people out there, you should have called the police though; perhaps the security camera's at 7-11 caught it on tape? That's what happens when you drive a very clean, very nice car!
NightMare Silverado
I ALWASE carry an assisted opening knife for this very reason. I don't care where I'm going I have a knife on me and a few in reach in my car. I'm glad you cxme out ok but if you pull a knife on someone who you feel is a threat to your life use it because if he'd been armed he won't hesistate. God help the man who threatens me or my family. StormChaser
Yea....I definitely freaked out a lot last night and I probably would have taken action with the knife if he wouldn't have backed off but yea I just have never experienced that before. NightMare Silverado
Understandable I use the 7-11 a few blocks down its not between the 2 worst appt complexes in town and its like 3x the size too. There is no need to put yourself in a dangerous area but Id still carry the knife. I buy alot of my knives here http://knifezilla.com/ They may not all be the best quality20$ and under are your average knives but everything else is great and they have not messed up an order on me. 70'sChevyGirl
Wow Brandi, You need to be very aware of your surroundings when you are by yourself. Not just in your car...anywhere!! I am glad your alright and nothing REALLY crazy happened!!

floraneg
Hi Brandi, Glad to hear that you are safe and you escaped that without any physical injuries. I would seriously rethink the knife. Some have also mentioned the concealed carry. Not sure if you have one or not, but you have to make sure that if you do go for those choices, you are willing to use the weapon. You are VERY lucky he did not challenge you with the knife. My father was a homicide detective and I grew up around all kinds of weapons. My passion for guns comes very close to my passion for cars. Anyway, I have a CC permit and I have used the weapon before. I like you,had a run in with a person at a gas station one night. As I was pumping gas two individuals approached me asking if I could Help them out with some gas money. I told them I did not carry cash, which is true. They walked away cursing me. I felt very uncomfortable and adjusted my weapon as I pumped my gas. As I turned to put the nozzle back I felt someone approaching me from behind. As I turned, they were both standing about two feet from me, one with a knife. The one with the knife demanded the keys to my corvette or he said he would "Gut me". At that I drew my weapon and shot him in the chest. He was not killed, but the bullet severed his spinal cord and he will never walk again. My point to this is, if you want to carry a weapon you must be willing to take someone's life without hesitation. If you hesitate chances are you are dead. I was always taught, if you take out your weapon you use it! You do not sit there and try and negoiate with someone. If it has come to the point to draw a gun or pull a knife, You fear for your own life and you must be willing to take the other person's life. I do not regret for one second my decision to shoot the person who threatend me. In fact, it came out that he had two prior arrests one for battery on a police officer and one for attempted murder in Texas. Not being sexist, but I do not like a gun for a woman, unless again, you are a 100% willing to take someone's life. I agree with the person who said you need to be aware of your surroundings. You may want to go take a class on self defense. Not any crazy kick a$$ stuff, just something to instruct you on how to avoid situations like you were in and what to do in that situation. Again, growing up with a homicide detective for a father, I heard some horrific stories and was raised to never let anyone put you into a situation you could not control. Again, I'm glad you were not hurt. You were very lucky it ended the way it did.
StormChaser
I definitely agree it was a very lucky situation and I am not a violent person by any means and before I do any sort of weapons, I am going to go through a LOT of training. I am already looking into self defense classes as well. Thank you!
Captain Slow
Remember what floraneg said: Only arm yourself if you are going to use it. Our local paper has a story of an elderly lady that pulled her husband's gun on intruders only to be disarmed. Glad you are alright. Here's a big hug from all of us. It must be nice to live in a state that trusts it's citizens to defend themselves as they see fit. Here in Mordor we don't have that right.....
