My guess is you're just into the clear which appears white when scratched.

 

You can polish it up and make it look better or fill it with clear and then polish later.

Most scratches look white because it's the light catching and reflecting off the damaged clear. That's why products like SHR work.. because they take the edge off the swirl/scratch so that light doesn't catch it, and they thus become invisible.

 

I'm sure I'm greatly oversimplifying here, but that's the essence.
