tire store gets Vette filthy

xlr8rvette

Question

Six weeks ago I purchased 2 front tires at local tire shop and they installed plus did 4 wheel alignment. I have bought tires here for 15 years plus. Service has gone downhill........

1. They got grease on corners of hood, rear hatch, front fenders, steering wheel, both wheels and top of Vette above driver's window.

2. Put 41 psi in one tire and 43 in the other.

3. Mounted one directional tire in the wrong direction.

When noticed incorrect tire installation today I returned to have wrong direction directional tire removed and reinstalled in correct direction. Guess what?.......grease everywhere ! :willy:

After the installation the kid said " I was going to wash your wheels but they really looked shiney and I didn't want to touch them" :willy::willy:

The amazing thing is they all wear gloves implying they will keep your car clean. In reality these are to keep their hands clean and they haven't a clue about keeping your car clean.......However, the only saving grace is they at least do not attempt to wipe the stuff off. That would be terrible !! :help:

when i worked in a tire shop we didn't wear gloves because they always seemsed to get in the way.

my hands were black after 30 minutes, and we were required to wash our hands and forearms before entering the car or the front sales room. we would go through a tub of Fast Orange and rolls of Scott blue shop towels every day

after working in a shop, i know better to not take my car to get worked on... i will take the wheels off myself and leave the car on jack stands, take the wheels/tires in the back of my truck to the trie shop to have them do any work.

i couldn't tell you how many times i have seen other workers break something, scratch something, or leave a car in worse shape than it came in, they only hired high school kids and the older guys that couldn't get a better job elsewhere cuz they were so dirty. i even saw the occasional tow truck with cars that lost a wheel and tire on the road after they visited us. and they wanted to make me a shop manager after 4 years... i told them no thanks i'm going to college to get a real job!
