Wouldn't that Frost Your Cookies!

BRZN

Question

Earlier this week my wife was out shopping and running her usual errands on her day off. Sometime during the day someone cut their wheel a bit too much as they went around her in a parking lot and scraped her right front corner. My wife drives a 2005 Volvo XC70 that has a black plastic bumper cover. The yellow car that scraped across her left quite a mess and looks like they deformed the bumper to be able to leave the marks they did. Her bumper came back to shape and I'll bet their car looks worse.

They didn't wait for her, didn't look for her, didn't leave a note, nothing...

So this morning I get to work!

APC with both a stiff bristle and soft bristle brush.

Magic Eraser, didn't seem to do anything but it was turning grey.

DS and Clay

More APC with the stiff and soft bristle brushes.

more DS and Clay

Bug and Tar remover, too strong was drying out the bumper and turned the rag bluish-grey: probably the clay I was using and some of the bumper material.

More APC with just the soft bristle brush.

Nice "repair", looks much better! That is one of our greatest fears eh some marking our rides after years of pampering.

I guess we need to realize it is not a question of if it is more like when which even with all the best practices use it will happen.:(

They may not have realized it at the time, but they had to have eventually seen the mess they made to their car! The amount of yellow paint left and the way the front corner had to have deformed to leave those marks had to have creased theirs pretty badly where they scraped. So far the "New" VRT is doing it's job, no rain here since I've tried to clean it up though.

Oh, and Welcome to the forum Bob!
