Sandra Dee
yes, they bury the pig and cook it slowly. It is called a LOOO-OWWW (pronounced) ha ha Lots of fun cuz the people are laid back and so friendly. I went there back in '89-90 for a couple weeks-what a blast. Sora
Luau's (looooo-owww) are good too. It's takes a lot of work to do it but the end results are worth it. They prep the pig and start the fire in the pit (imo=eee-moo) the day before then bury the pig in it and let it cook over night. But most people who can do it in there back yard use pork butt. Both are tasty but pork butt are easier to work with. There's usually one going on if there is a three day weekend in the forecast. Oh yea, it's called kalua pig and if you mix that with some cabbage, it's very tasty. Along with some poi and lome samon and some poki and lau lau. But if you have high blood preasure, I recommend stay away from these broke the mouth food. I know I have to, but not by choice, my doctor would have a cow if she found out I ate these last week . The food is pretty salty but I love it! Have a great Labor Day Weekend All.
