Chewy
Yep! Not really a big deal! 3 or 4 small slits in your stomach and out it goes. A couple days off your feet and you're good to go. I had an attack in Bangkok! Made it back home and had it pulled. NO WAY I'd have done it there... IMO it feels like you need to poo or something. Cold sweats and HORRIBLE pain... Faze
What the tech/nurse said to me yesterday was that gall stone pain can be as close as appendix pain. But almost feels like you were hit in the chest and air knocked out of you. The pain though is mostly on ur right side right below your ribcage. If you lay down its hurts, you almost have to find what helps you feel better by trying to lay/sit. Taking tums, or anything like that wont do anything. Feels like you gotta take a crap, fart, and burp but nothing. When they took my temp I was at 101.4 they thought it was my appendix, but gave me some pain killers so they could get me on the cat scan asap. I was in so much sweat it looked like i was taking a invisable shower from all the sweat dripping off of me. It scared me the 1st time when it happened Feb of this year, then 2nd time 3 or 4 months ago. 3rd time this past sunday.

Faze
I had NO poo issues... If you asked my wife she'd tell you I DO have Junkmanitis though... hehehe... Im seeing it as a toss up of people having the poo issues AFTER wards and some do not. I even earned my nick name "sh**brick" on another forum cause well... Ive always had stomach issues though, as long as I can remember. I think back and Ive had only 3 major gall bladder attacks (2hrs-4hrs, the rest were a few mins long. Rich
Not me, but my wife and brother. He had his out. Now he can't eat certain foods like gravies and onions. The wife still has hers and her attack was brought on by onions, so she avoids them now and has been fine since. Guess everyone is different. JunkmansHomeboy
Faze, Ive had mine taken out. I can completely understand the situation youre in. I battled with gallbladder problems for years before the doctors finally figured out what my issue was. Mine wasnt stones but instead it just wasnt functioning correctly. The surgery itself wont take that long. They will put about 4 small holes in ya and then remove it. Once its out you will want to allow yourself anywhere from 5 to 7 days to recover. You wont feel bad that long but you have to make sure you dont go back to your every day activities to quickly. I felt great after about 4 days. One question that alot of people have is does it make you go to the bathroom. Ill be honest, I dont really have any real issues with it. The things you have to beware of is that to much grease will cause issues like that to occur. Youll either throw up or be running to the toilet. That happened to me for the first little while. If i ate to much grease or such i would puke. Currently, Its been about 4 years since my surgery and ill tell you i wouldnt wait another second. I dont have any real issues at all and if youre in pain or discomfort from the gallbladder youll never have those issues again. If you have any questions just ask. Ill be glad to answer as best i can.
StormChaser
Unfortunately I have had mine out. Long story short...I bought my TBSS on 09/01/08 and that weekend I was supposed to meet up with my sorority girls to show off my new ride. Well that Friday at work, I had a calzone that I bought for lunch. I had 2 bites and immediately threw it up. I threw away the calzone cursing the pizza joint for giving me food poisoning. Well I went home after work and still couldn't eat. Saturday came and went and I was unable to lay down or sleep very well...it was very difficult to find a comfortable position. Anyway I was praying to the porcelain GOD for everything...even a sip of water. Sunday afternoon I called my best friend who was a RN and asked her if I should go to ER. Three days with no fluids was not good. She got me an appt with her boss, Dr. Lord (love the name), first thing Monday morning. He hooked me up to 2 iv's pumping me with fluids and anti-biotics. He gave me a shot for vomiting and I slept there for about five hours. He sends me home after the bags were emptied and I felt 50% better because I had fluids in me. He calls me six am Tuesday and asks how I am and it was worse. I thought I pulled out my back from the jerking of the vomiting. Anyway I go back in and we're talking ....while I am getting my 3rd bag of fluids and I told him that I feel like I pulled out my back or bruised a rib because my side hurt. He asked me where the pain was and he immediately ordered an ultra-sound. I wanted to DIE when she put that thing on my tummy. He simply said "pick a hospital". I barely made it to the ER because the pain was so intense. I got there around 11. my surgery was scheduled for 1pm but a heartattack patient came in so I was pushed back. Thank GOD for morphine!!! I got a dose every 30 minutes. They did extreme testing on my blood and hooked up yet 2 more iv's. So I'm on my 5th bag of fluids by day 1.5. My white bloodcell count was over 34,000 and I guess it's supposed to be around 9-11,000. I was in the ER for 7 days before I could go home. I had 7 gallstones! Thinking back on it I had several attacks throughout the year but I always accounted it to pulling out my back because I had always done something like moving or lifting a 70 pound suitcase on the conveyor belt, etc. I would not want to deal with that ever again. I sincerely hope they give you good pain medicine because it's definitely gonna hurt! As far as eating habits...I have not changed much...If I eat an extremely greasy food or spicy it can mess me up a little but I adapted really quickly to no gallbladder. Sorry the story is pretty long actually but I wouldn't have survived one more day without getting it removed. Best luck to you!
Faze
junkmanshomeboy and stormchaser thanks for the replies. all these other people that were on the ER on sunday knew something was wrong with me, but did not know what. they were saying to the front nurse person "let him go before me, something is really wrong" i told my dad to go out there and thank all of them for allowing me to go 1st. its funny you say that though stormchaser, that back like pain was one of them i felt. but also felt like my ribs were being ripped from out of my body. when i spoke with my doctor yesterday i asked him would is be smart to remove the appendix while in there? he said if you feel like they should then yes. kill 2 birds with one stone. the appendix blood work and cat scan showed some questionable things. but the surgeon will decide that as well. i know some people cant even tell a difference between having it and not having it in there. i just hope im able to live a better and normal life with out having to worry about wheres a bathroom

xlr8rvette
I was suppose to have gall bladder removed 10 years ago due to stones. Being self employeed I wanted it scheduled for Thursday or Friday so could be back to work on Monday. They couldn't, I didn't. But now it is acting up and I do not want another major attack. Called doctor to schedule. Intent is to be back at work in a day or 2. Had double by-pass 8 years ago and went back to work after 1 week. A few months ago had aortic anyeurysm repaired . Went home the next morning. Hopefully can be rid of the prehistoric organ next week. Good luck with your operation !! P S ....one post mentioned morphine. After the by-pass operation they gave me morphine. This immediately triggerred a gall bladder attack. When I had Anyeurysm operation they asked if allergic to any medicine. I replied no morphine. They agreed this could cause G B attack. Guess we can have different reactions.
Chewy
WHAT?!? Please explain. When you lose large amounts of weight it will cause your gallbladder to fill with "stones" which are really just cholesterol pellets I believe. I have NO issues eating anything. I poo regularly just like I did previous to the surgery... lol Chris

I would agree if they feel the appendix needs to go, do it at once. I still worry about where a rest room is...because it happens every once in a while...but if I am in a position where I don't know if it is going to happen or not and I am not near a restroom...I won't eat. A lot of times when I am at car shows or doing things with the SS crew....I will drink water but no foods. I sincerely wish you luck!
Domas
If the gallbladder becomes inflamed, it can cause sever pain in the upper right abdomen, otherwise known as a gall bladder attack. More serious conditions can lead to fever, nausea and vomiting. These symptoms often arise after the individual has eaten fried or fatty foods. This condition must be treated immediately as it can be life threatening.
nawal
it can cause pain in chest (that can stop u from breathing normal) , back pain , neck and both shoulder pain(most pain on right) i couldnt sleep when i had some of my pre-attacks cant find a good position to even manage to lay down the surgery is easy , but sure wasnt nice the first 3 days after the surgery you would have hard time trying to stand from sleep position , or when to go back to sleep , and alot of vomiting as soon as the surgery drug go out of your system. i had someone to help me stand coz of the pain , just to go to the bathroom. and u will have pain on right shoulder/neck after the surgery for 4days or more , like u been lifting stuff for hours and still holding somthing up you will feel like a balloon , and full of gas the first 2 week >.> , that was a bad feeling to. its like you are full for 2 weeks >.> , cant remember what else i had. but again surgery is easy not a complicated one , but your body wont feel nice missing and organ the first week but you should check how to remove the stones with out surgery , it works olive oil power ! , google and youtube it if you not up for operation check attach the 2 big ones , and the 2nd photo had hmm cant count alot small ones the small ones cause pain more
