scratch help

hawaiianstyle

Question

:help:What a bummed day, before jumping into my truck I noticed a scratch on the side of my bed. Can I do a spot correction, by taping off just that area and correcting that scratch? Alcohol, then SHR, RV ,buttery wax. Or do I have to do the whole truck bed? :help: By the way, I can feel it with my nail going over scratch.

If you have recently done the surronding area you could be OK with the spot correction, but it may 'blend' better if the whole panel was polished after the scratch was removed/reduced.

I have done my truck by polishing a panel at a time, then applying MSW to the whole thing.

Yes just do a spot correction, do you have the 4" spot pads? If you can feel it with your nail you won't be able to remove it completely. However you can lessen it. Like Gerry said it would have to be wet sanded and then if it is too deep it will still not come completely out. Take some after pics!

After fixing this area. Redo my whole truck!!!!

How much you redo is up to you and how happy you are with the corrected area vs. the rest of the truck.

When you use SHR to get the scratch out, you will have to use FMP to remove the marring from SHR, which is where the whole panel suggestion came from.

Not trying to make extra work for you!
