Thanks, all!  Looks like I'm good to go for a while with this combo.  

I recently took delivery on a 66 Malibu with red singe stage paint.  The car has the usual swirl marks from dusting and improper washing so I'm slowly working my way through a light compound / polish hoping to knock down as much as I can safely.  

I tried using sealants and the Colorado winters made quick work of the protection.  As such, my other cars are ceramic coated making me new to the wax game.  

I started by correcting the trunk and have applied Brilliant Glaze topped with Americana as a test.  The look is amazing and I'm planning to replicate this procedure for the rest of the car.  

The car will be weekend driven and will hopefully never see rain.  How long will the glaze / wax combo will last before I need to apply?   I know I can add more glaze but I don't want the protection to slip, especially when it gets hot in the summer.  Will the wax wash away on the first wash because it has glaze underneath?

I think making that change to the label would be really helpful.  I was wondering if you think using an applicator pad would fair a better result?

 

I will try to use my double softs next time see if that helps as well.

I've always gotten streaks using the towel method.  I now use a microfiber sponge and work one panel at a time (or half hood / roof) and wipe with two towels.  It takes a bit longer but the finish is streak free.  Application is once a quarter on my daily driver.  

Revive and the blue applicator is the best way to knock down the streaks if you do notice them.

I have the same plastic on my M3 and Suburban - both swirl up no matter what I do.  I'm thinking about correcting them as best I can and then wrapping them with clear bra or Xpel.  Does anyone have any experience wrapping these? 

Guys, new here and need some help.  I have these spots that I think are water spots but not sure.  It is very hard to take a picture of them but I have attached two that show them.  You have to get the light just right to see them.  This is on a 2003 C4 50th anniversary corvette.  

 

Has anyone had these and how did you remove them?  Process?  Pads?  Product?

I got some water spots on my trunk lid this weekend with a Porter Cable and the Paint Finishing Polish with a white foam pad.  Never had any luck with Revive, YMMV.

Rain water typically won't etch... At least not sitting in a garage. Our relatively clean air typically means cleaner rain. Etching will usually occur in high TDS water situations or if the sun is allowed to bake the water onto the surface.

 

What specifically makes you think it was etching?

I washed and clayed the car and saw outlines of water spots that remained on the paint.  Tried Revive and that didn't work so I broke out the paint correcting polish and that took care of the water spots.  Car is typically parked outside during the day in the sun (no cover in the parking lot) and is garaged at night.  I typically wash every other week and it doesn't get hit with sprinklers or any other water source.  I guess the etching could have happened during the day after the sun came out.  I'm pretty crazy about my car so I'm not above running out after rain to wipe it down or do whatever I need to do to prevent spotting.  What do you reccomend?

I detailed my car this weekend and noticed some etched in water spots that required polishing to remove (tried clay and revive with no success).  We've had crazy rain in the Denver area lately so its likely that some of these spots etched in while the car was sitting overnight in my garage.  I hadn't worried much about water spots since I thought my liquid paint sealant  / H20 G&G would be enough but I see now that I need to modify my regimine to specifically prevent etching.  

What do you guys do when you park a dirty car wet with rain water?  I would love to rinseless or waterless wash the car each time but its simply not realistic to do so.  Is there something that can be used to mist the car to at least neutralize some of the damaging acid / minerals while they dry (I know its no big deal for the shampoo to dry on the car so it got me thinking...)?   I would imagine that patting or drying the car would introduce swirls given the dirt.  

Finally, I had to borrow some polish from a friend to get rid of the spots.  Would I using Revive with a orange pad and a DA polisher do any good as a low abrasion way to correct water spots?
