I had been volunteering at a local shelter and the shelters are overflowing. Here is a great resource to adopt animals...

You can narrow down your search to specifc breeds and such. Lots of purebreeds are being turned in and you can get a new friend usually for a small fee.

I totally agree, shelters are the way to find dogs. That's how we've bought both of ours and you couldn't ask for better pets!

My little boy, Toby, when he was 2 months old. Doberman Pinscher / Pitbull mix.

Now at 95 lbs and 2yrs old. He loves to play and has the mind of a 10yr old child. Smarter than any dog I know. He can open doors on his own and does a great job protecting the house.

Nala, our Dalmatian, now 7yrs old. She's the oldest and puts Toby in his place, even though she knows he's bigger. Food motivated and loves to be under the covers.
