  1. This morning my daughters car was covered with heavy water spots from sitting on the street for 4 days and the house next to her car had it's sprinklers over spraying on the car. It was so bad you really could not see through the glass. I took some vinegar on a terry cloth and cleaned all the windows off by pouring some vinegar on the towel and wiping vigorously. They all came out for the most part...but the car smelled like red wine vinegar! :lolsmack:

  2. Don't use Dawn....never, never ever use Dawn on an automobile, there is no need for it. Really don't think you need to wash if you have already used Fine Machine Polish, it should be ready for wax, but if you aren't sure the surface is clean, I would use Revive or Brilliant or both, then wax.

I am sorry but I have to disagree with you...I have used Dawn to strip wax off my vehicle...and it works great for that. Telling someone to never use Dawn is a little overboard IMO. Whether someone uses IPA or Dawn they both take off the wax.

  3. Why would wax be a problem?

This is direct from the Apple website...you can do as you wish to your iPad, just offering my .02 .

To clean iPad, unplug all cables and turn off iPad (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider). Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean iPad. iPad has an oleophobic coating on the screen; simply wipe iPad’s screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands. The ability of this coating to repel oil will diminish over time with normal usage, and rubbing the screen with an abrasive material will further diminish its effect and may scratch your screen.

  4. LOL...where I do agree a week is not a long time...my wife has OCD and especially since the car has been detailed hates to see it dirty even more than she did before the detailing. (if that is possible) I have some time get some waterless wash...but I guess if I use that and then have to follow up with detail spray I am wondering if I could just save some money and just use the detail spray? Thanks for the replies everyone!:2thumbs:

  5. The detail spray has a hint of wax in it, which gives the shine, so I wouldn't want to put it on the screen of the iPad. I usually just use a dab of water on a micro fiber cloth and it works great. If you are trying to keep fingerprints off the surface...I would suggest maybe an anti glare shield like I have on mine. Fingerprints wipe off easily and you have the glare reduction for the screen. I would give you a link but don't know if it is allowed. If you want to know the brand I bought PM me

  6. We are just going on vacation for about a week...but since my wife's car is black there is no way it will last a week without being covered with dirt. Since I don't have waterless wash...would detail spray be ok in it's place?

Rob how long are you going to be gone for?

what you can do it bring it to the coin op...rinse the dirty off and use waterless wash like seen in this video.

  7. Bill thank you very much for your kind offer...I think maybe savi01 might benefit from them more than I will. Again thank you for your kind offer :):2thumbs:

About a year ago - give or take - I had a problem with them. No matter how I washed them, they were very rough feeling and left some swirls on the wife's car. However I think I may have been pressing down to hard while using them. Plus I boiled them in hot water.

I still use them from time to time with no problem. I'm now into the MB which I find to be a lot faster.

If you would want them, you can try a test area and see what you think. If you don't like the job they do, their good for many other areas to "clean."

  8. Are you referring to the california duster?

These dusters can easily create scratches and swirls. Personally I have never used one on my cars. Many here have used them, many have thrown them away after seeing the damage they created and others love them.

One of those items that definitely is controversial and probably needs the exact proper touch or else .... :(

I have not thrown away the California Duster...and follow the method explained by TheJunkman. I have tried it and have had success with it so far. If there is a lot of dirt on it I won't use it... But just light dust say from overnight etc. I can lightly remove the thin film of dirt and then use the detail spray.

I do understand the cleaning properties of the waterless wash...however if you have to follow it up with detail spray anyway...for the money I will just use he detail spray. I don't have the GWT and am hesitant to use anything to wipe on the paint now.

I think blowing the dirt off will only remove a minute amount of it without a liquid to lift the dirt or dust off IMO.

  9. Do we have a sickness???? My wife will tell you I do, and that I spend way too much money. But she likes the results. She doesn't know about the Flex that I bought a while back, yet. Iam sure when I break that out Iam going to hear "when did you get that tool?". I always do. It can be something that I have had for a long time, but she hasn't taken notice. I will just tell her it was in one of the several boxes that she brought in off the porch recently.

LOL I am contemplating doing that very same thing. I have been thinking hard about the Flex lately and I am wondering how I am going to get it without her knowing about it. :lolsmack: After all I follow the motto: It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission! I did hint today that Adams is having a Father's Day sale and she said you haven't gotten all you needed yet?...I said um no not even close!

MadAboutDetailing: I now do the same thing...when we drive by the carwash I say to myself Don't Do It People!

To this day I have NEVER actually washed any of my motorcycles. I would always use the spray on wax/cleaner and thought it was doing just fine. After I learned about paint correction and swirls...I now look at it in a whole new light. It is still waiting for me to detail it (it is black) and I will say that I will give it it's first wash very soon.

Ok now...I was thinking about splitting the bill on two credit cards that way it is less noticeable! Hmmmm...:glasses:

  10. Don't forget your forum discount code.

    Which is what??

Since the master blaster also uses heat doesn't it dry some of the hard water on your car that still has to be removed with a microfiber and detail spray anyway?? Even my blower that I am currently using (my Sears wet vac converted to a blower) disperses all the little water droplets all over and they also dry on the car.
