  1. DaveVY i appreciate the gesture. Iva actually had no time to even look at them the past few days, but im gonna try one more time to use oven cleaner overnight then steel wool in the AM. I dont really see any brush marks on the stainless, im just going in a circumferential motion. It is definitely making the exhaust feel rough, but im hoping the metal polish 1 and 2 combo will restore it. If not ill be forced to go aftermarket.....

Teman, im in Queens Village/Floral Park

  2. So im currently breaking many a sweat trying to get the soot off my exhausts and ive spoken to fellow GTI owners who say you gotta maintain it weekly to prevent this frustration, so im wondering if any of you guys and gals have tried using the quick sealant on the tips to make life easier in the future. Any benefits> Any reaction with the heat?

  3. Definitely going to try that junk hood idea, although i heard that a PC is pretty much safe.

Also, i just washed my car the other day and this is only maybe 3 weeks after i sealed and waxed, it was barely beading...im guessing i did something wrong. I applied the sealant after the polish step then the glaze/wax. Im guessing the error was in the wax application, but i applied it exactly the way its done in the video; i put the glaze on and the americana directly over the glaze. This actually raised an issue because my wax applicator would now have glaze on it.

Now im wondering if the next time i wash my car if i should throw on another americana layer or a quick sealant layer, although now im also wondering if the sealant will work considering i waxed it a few weeks ago.

  4. Just make sure youre sitting down when you wipe the seat...:2thumbs:

The best part is when you look at the dirty seat and no matter what you have in your mind it wont compare to how good it actually looks. Youll think in the back of your mind theres no way itll look like new...but.....

  5. I just recently did my friend's 335is with the red leather (which i convinced him to get :) ) and after a year of use it seemed to be a dark mahogany, then i used the leather cleaner and it was like turning on a bright red light! i hid my astonishment and played it off like ive detailed millions of times, but he was floored. That was the first time i ever got to do leather seats, let alone dirty ones.

    Wish i had pics!

  6. Im keeping my eye on machines from a distance for now. This is my first time detailing, i practiced on my dads car with good results, so im going to do my car by hand as well, especially because the car is only a year old and has no major defects. Maybe next year ill look into PC. I saw some ideas on the forum about buying a junk hood and practicing so i might do that too.

  7. Hi,

I should be receiving my brilliant glaze tomorrow and i tend to feel more secure by applying 2 layers of americana. I was wondering, since the tutorial videos recommend BG then Americana, is it a good idea to do both the BG and the Americana twice if i choose to layer or one BG and 2 Americanas?

I guess not too bad for a first time. Ill post pics of my car in the detailing section once its done after i get the sealant and glaze.

  9. welcome Atif!

    :worth:

So this is my first time ever doing more than a wash in my life. Decided to do my parents' car. Havent gotten my sealant or glaze yet so it was just wash, clay, revive (not mush swirling going on), americana.

Im clearly no photographer, and maybe its the pictures, but it didnt jump out as much as i expected, could also be because its cloudy. Maybe you guys and gals will be better at noticing the improvement...but its definitely at least some degree better. the 'rents are pleased so thats a plus.
