I'm surprised that with the truck going into regens that it hasnt burned off by itself. Next time you notice it going into a regen, see if that goop softens at all.
It doesn't have dpf

At the risk of being a smarta**, why do you need a heat gun? Can you just let the truck idle for a while to heat up the exhaust?
Or do a couple 1/4 miles runs at wot

Thanks didn't think of heating it.
Will have to try that.
Thinking of giving it a good polish also. Any advise? I don't have the Adams metal polishing combos.
Thinking of sand paper, wool with polish and then a a metal polish on a rag.

How did you manage that?
Was on it when I bought the truck. Construction worker had it so I'm assuming it was something like that.

Like the title says, I have some type of caulking or liquid nail type substance on my exhaust tip. It's kinda rubbery feeling but won't come off with washing or a wire brush... Any suggestions?

My new rims. They need a polish bad but don't have the 4in focus pads to get down in them.
I just striped washed, clayed, and waxed. Need some sealant though.

I would say the wax filled in the scratches. We install this were I work and it scratches/swirls super easy. Heat will help some but not completely. Imo he needs to redo it. I tryed polishing it before and it turned into a mess. We use digi clear bra FYI.
Clean it well and apply nothing to it. After all it is a protective bra that is supposed to take the beating for the paint.

I try and do a panel with all 3 steps, then move to the next one.

Get the drill pads you will be fine. Only reason I'm going to order 4in pads for pc is because I already have the machine, other wise would order for drill.
Do strip wash and clay then let it eat. I was a little timid my first time polishing but after the first panel, I caught on real quick.
Edit: I started by working a section to large. Do a 1x1 or 1x2 and take your time. Work it till it satisfies you then move on. Set a large amount of time aside for polishing, especially if you have never done it before. I thought I could do it in 1 day...not lol

Order 4in pads for drill and drill attachment. Or by hand, but will take a load of elbow grease that way.
Make sure you clay before polish also, at least if you have never done it before.

Used a toothbrush and IPA and it all came out
Now I need some SVRT to dress the plastics, all I have is back to black. It does okay, but will streak after heavy rain or water wash out.

I typically keep most my vehicles 10-15 years on average. It isn't much trouble to prevent rust for that period of time that you listed above. I'am looking at longevity. The Duramax that I purchased over a year ago only has about 9K on it. I will probably keep that vehicle for a long long time, and this is why I posted this question. With proper maintenance I don't see why it may be the last pickup I should buy. At 60k I don't care to be buying one every few years. Dealer told me that he has some customers with over 400K on their motors and still going strong.
You know... They expect everyone to get a new ride every 2-3 years.

Of course I wash and it rains right after. Last protection was MSS and Miguries NxT 2.0 wax applied 2-3 weeks before thanksgiving.

Georgia Detailers
in Lounge
Posted
I just purchased a new 2016 F-150 Platinum and I am looking for a detailer near Augusta Georgia who can apply Opti Coat or CQuartz.
Do any of y'all have a shop or know of someone who can assist? FWIW I did do 2 lays of machine sealant and a layer of buttery wax for protection until I get the coating done.
Thanks!
