So I bought a 2014 Silverado z71 double cab last month and I absolutely love the thing. I've never had a new car before and I'm trying to keep it as new as possible for as long as possible despite the fact that I have to put tons of miles on it for work.
My dim-witted question for the detailing community is this: how do y'all K2XX owners clean your wheel wells? Mine have got that funny black, almost carpet-like stuff lining them (I'm pretty sure it's for sound insulation). So far, I've washed the truck a couple of times and really only rinsed the wheel wells out and wiped the dust/road grit out with a damp microfiber cloth. I'm afraid to use chemicals on the stuff because I'm not sure what the effect would be. Would APC be too harsh on the stuff?

So is the fine machine polish what really makes the reflections sharp?
Obviously, you want to get the swirls out with the more aggressive products first (Swirl & Haze and Severe Swirl & Haze), but I guess the FMP is the secret to achieving a mirror-like surface?

Thanks for the great advice Doug. I've heard wonders about the BG/Americana combo. Sadly, bein' a po' boy, I only have the glaze at the moment but I bet it will still look great. I've allowed plenty of time for the job so I'm hoping I can see some decent results if I keep at it.
I'll be sure to post some pics, but only if it looks better than when I started.

So the other day I was caught detailing my car by a classic car owner
I have since been contracted to make his gorgeous red 1974 Corvette look "as good as possible" for a meet he has in a couple weeks.
I went to visit it yesterday to see what all it needed done and it looks pretty clean (has minor swirls though). My plan of attack is to give it a good wipe down with waterless wash, a little detail spray and then hit it with Swirl & Haze, Fine Machine Polish, etc. with my PC. I don't have a whole lot of experience with extensive correction and I've told him as much but I'd like to do as good a job as possible.
Anybody got any special tips for older Vettes?

Well spotted! UCO's a good school; it also makes a convenient backdrop for a mediocre photographer like me

‘Nother newbie checking in from Oke city. I'm new to Adam’s and to machine polishing (been car washing for a while). I’m looking forward to learning a lot!
I figured I’d wait until I had some 'before & after’ shots to post before I introduced myself. The red one's my friend’s '02 Tahoe with 190,000 miles. He beats the crud out of it (2% of the time) when it’s not sitting (98% of the time). I’m really attached to it so I gave it a well-deserved bath with my awesome new Adam’s stuff. No fancy polishing or anything but I think she looks pretty good for 11!
My first love’s the ’95 Town Car with got 195,xxx miles. I haven’t gotten a chance to try my Adam’s stuff on it yet (can’t seem to get the right combination of free time and good weather). The attached picture was taken a couple of years ago after a wash with brandex stuff. Can't wait to see what my new PC can do!
TL;DR: Thanks for including me in your forum!
