Thank you! I try not to compliment her too much....she has a big enough head already.

Big bump.

Posted these in this thread but thought this might help your thread. Wash/clay/SHR/FMP/wax/etc
Tried to get direct sun shots after but it was hard on the side panels (sun was just overhead).

Thanks Junkman!

Couple older pics from right after high school graduation and during our senior week road trip. Fell asleep on Clearwater Beach for quite a while. Most recent are from a charity golf tournament for work.

Looks fantastic, great work! I'm going to shoot you a PM shortly about a problem I have. You seem to know your stuff.
On another note, that's the first time I've ever seen "The Home Depot"...all the ones around here are just "Home Depot".

Gotta love a light sprinkle.

Yeah next chance I have I'm going to really take a long time on it. Spread it out over several days and get every flaw out. It was a blast getting it dirty, although I couldn't help but worry about how many quarters I'd waste at the self-serve hosing off the undercarriage.
Thanks!

Jim,
I washed/clayed the night before...that took from roughly 10pm to 4am. It was raining so I had to wait for it to stop before I washed it, which is why I did it so late. Tried to take my time claying--it was a job.
For the corrective work, I started around 9am and finished around 4pm. I don't think that 7 hours is too bad, considering I could have taken more time (or more days) and gotten out every single swirl mark. I got out a large majority, though. When I say corrective work I include the swirl/haze remover, fine machine polish, and waxing.
-
For these swirl marks I used a lot of pressure. Kept the pad from spinning at all.
(tried to get a decent sun shot)

Yeah I'm working on my skills. Didn't think this was too bad for a male college student. I'm curious about the fruit pizza. Sounds really good.

Don't know if any of you guys have Pizza Inn in your area (I think it's only in the Southeast?), but they have a dessert pizza with chocolate chips. I've been wanting to make one sooo bad so I went out and got the supplies tonight. Unfortunately I didn't have flour (pizza dough was a pain) or a good pan so while making it I thought it would turn out really bad. My expectations were low. However, after cooking in the oven for about ten minutes this is what I got. It was delicious.
Pizza dough topped with yellow cake mix topped with chocolate chips.

I actually placed an order from DDM about two weeks ago and the kit should be arriving soon. I ordered from them because of their lifetime warranty.

I don't think that thing will ever end but it's a good contest anyways
I threw them over that way. Thanks for the compliments--it certainly was a job. I wish I had time right now to get out all the defects but I'm extremely satisfied with how it turned out. Yes I love the black.

WOW !!!!!!
That would make a great submission for the never ending before and after contest :D:D:D
Thanks gentlemen. I was wondering if the contest had ended yet--hadn't checked in a while.

Following up on this:

Spring break finally rolled around and I did a little paint correction. I managed to find a bit of time between projects and homework so graciously assigned by professors over break. It rained yesterday so I had to wait for it to stop before I could wash and clay it. Got finished claying around 4 am and managed to find a little bit of sleep. Woke up today, chugged some coffee, and dressed the trim/tires, polished, waxed, etc...
This was my main goal today--swirl removal:
Since it rained I had a little fun before the detail....so this is what I had to start with:
And this is what I ended up with after a lot of sweat and some sore arms:
(Did a quick interior job, too. The white specks on the close-ups/reflectos are in the paint.)
Thanks Adam for some great products! I love the deep shine! I still have some deeper scratches to remove since this is my daily driver, but those can wait for when I have a lot of free time. I'm extremely satisfied and happy that my truck now looks like she should. Nothing but hand-washing with proper technique from now on. I'm in the process of buying some ptm fender flares because the ones I have now are just spray-painted to match so they don't take dressing too well.

Okay guys I did another test section today and took a few pics. I will probably tackle this massive job over spring break since I don't have time right now. I have too much going on to do the whole truck. Also got a chance to give VRT a shot for the first time (also put a little on my decals). I am very impressed with both the SHR and VRT. Process it took to get out the swirls was (after wash/clay):
-SHR on orange pad at speed 6 on the PC. Took about two/three minutes of working it in.
-Added some FMP on the orange pad at speed 6 and worked it in for a minute.
-FMP on white pad on speed 5 and worked it in for a minute or two.
-Wiped it all off and was satisfied.
-Machine Super Wax on black pad
Now I get to enjoy a day of this. I'm so happy to see it's going to get everything out. First couple pics show the beautiful swirls currently all over the truck. Next few are the VRT results. Finally test section results.

Thanks for the tips guys, definitely gonna keep them in mind. I helped a friend wash his car today as it's been several months since he has. We just did a simple wash and clayed some paint overspray off. I got in my SHR today and decided to do a test section on my truck to see how much work I'd need to do to get rid of these swirls. Unfortunately it was late in the evening so lighting was terrible, but at least I got an idea of what was needed. A little more working it in and then with the FMP and MSW I'll be set! This makes me so happy that I'll be able to get these out without too much trouble!
Before/After:

Ah, gotcha. Our apartment has a small paved parking lot but we're currently in a water drought so I have to drive home to clean her up.
Be sure to post some pics of that shop when you get it set up!

Okay so 4 oz. of detail spray would be pushing it. Maybe we could take a few and figure out exactly how much of each product (ie-size of bottle) would be required for a full detail. Then combine the kit accordingly. Then again, I guess that's what this thread is for.
-
Now that I think about it I have a buddy with a white F-150 that is pretty keen on keeping his truck clean. He's not into detailing as much as I am, but I'm wanting to change that. I would love for this to be an option. I'd treat him to his first real detailing.
-
Looks great, man! It looks like you're in the same boat as me as far as location to detail. If that's where you detailed it I have the same problem with not having a paved driveway. Something that may help you out is putting cardboard under each of the tires. It's made it easier for me. This keeps dirt and whatnot from flying everywhere when you clean up the tires. Just food for thought.

How about a "bumper 2 bumper" kit, or maybe a complete detail sample kit? 1 4oz bottle of everything you need to do a complete detail. In, out, under, engine, clean, polish, wax dry. No gallons, refills, pads, or machine products.
My take on the idea?
Everyone here knows someone who takes pride in their car..... but uses the stuff from Wal*Mart:help: This way they can do their car and try EVERYTHING from Adams in one shot.
It's what I was looking for as my budget for new products is limited.
Id love a complete detail sampler package. make good gifts for people that dont have adams yet...also was hoping for same thing as Robert lol. Have too many kids to afford to get gallons of everything I want lolx3 on the 1-time detail kit. I'd love to get some buddies hooked on detailing. This would make a perfect gift for someone.
