  1. Congratulations on your new venture and best of luck !!

I was in IT most of my career as well. For the record : If anyone ever tells you you are "Over Qualified", in a most friendly manner, get them to put that in writing.. If they are stupid enough to grant that request,, turn around and sue them for discrimination ! There is NO Such Thing as OVER Qualified when appling for a job. They will have admitted that you have the minimum qualifications and should have been considered for the position...

I know, it sounds overly litigious,, but the support of your family HAS Got to come before all other feelings...

Again, all the best ! Knock um dead !!! :2thumbs:

Thanks much :) Well, starting full time tomorrow - my own Farmers Agency :) Onward and Upward :)

  2. Hey there,

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comP><P><FONT face=Arial><FONT size=3>Short history first – the vast majority of my adult life was spent in Information Technology (IT). I got into IT in January of 1980 working for a small company called Smith International (a division of theirs called Servco). That was the beginning of what turned out to be a 23 year career – which ended in December 2003 with being laid off from WellPoint Health Networks (the then parent company of Blue Cross) where I ran one of the data centers for 10 years. After being laid off from WP, I was never able to find a position back in IT. I kept on hearing that I was WAY over qualified for the position. Having a need to provide for my wife and children, I tried my hand at Real Estate – got my <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns =<st1:place w:st="on">California</st1:place></st1:State> RE License and went to work for a large So Cal broker – probably at the worst time possible (2004). Needing SOME income, I ended up working for a local Ford dealership (mainly because I love cars, and the provided a guaranteed income for a short period of time). I worked there for almost exactly one year – in sales, parts and lastly as a Service Advisor. While working at the Ford dealership, I used to take dealership cars (Ford GT, Shelby’s, modified Mustang’s, etc) to local car shows. Its there that I met the owner of Stillen – where I ultimately ended up.

    <o:p></o:p>

    <o:p></o:p>

Well, I have been with Stillen for about 15 months now. I guess MAYBE I came into the automotive high performance industry at the wrong time. While I had a couple of reasonable months, all in all I was not able to provide for my family like I should be. About 6 or so months ago I realized that if I was ever going to have the income I needed to, I would need to move out on my own. I began taking classes online – studying until late at night and on the weekends. Geez, I thought all that was over when I got my degree in Business Management – boy was I wrong :) About a month ago, I took all of my tests to get my Property & Casualty, Life and Health Insurance licenses – and passed them all on the first shot (AMAZING).

    <o:p></o:p>

    <o:p></o:p>

Starting on Monday – Jan 26th – I will be running my own business – a Farmers Insurance Agency. I will be selling Home, Auto, Life, Business and Workers Comp insurance – as well as some line of Health insurance. Hopefully by the middle of the year, I will also be ready to test for my Series 6 and Series 63 Securities licenses.

    <o:p></o:p>

    <o:p></o:p>

Wish me luck – and if you know of ANYONE in the <st1:place w:st="on">Southern California</st1:place> area that I can help with insurance – no matter what it may be for, send them my way. :)

  3. when we had the fires in Lake Elsinore.. my parents pool was nasty black

My pool guy only had to come out 3 times to clean the filters :) And we have one of those pool covers that lays on the water - so a LOT of the ash didnt even get in the pool.

There were about 9 neighbors of mine that had NO pool covers - they ended up having to have their pools drained and refilled. A few days after the refill, we had nasty winds - which kicked up the ash again - and 3 of the pools had to be re-drained and filled again.

  4. Just hope EVERYONE is safe from this.

Last years fires were within about a block of our house. Mandatory evacuations 1/2 block away - voluntary in our neighborhood. About 3 weeks of smelly smokey crap in the air (and a pool with nearly black water).

All I can say is - WHENS IT GONNA RAIN :)

  5. Nope' date=' I am still working on that thou!

Hopefully soon Stillen will be on board with Adam's[/quote']

Hey - I am on board :) Just need to get the company to be on board :)

  6. I have been wondering this for weeks now, is their a min and max temp for waxing? Currently I am preping the z06 for winter storage and I have been too busy to wax it on the nice days. The temps sit between 30-50 degrees and I was wondering if that is too cold to wax the car ? The temp could drop while I am waxing also, so the range is important.

    Thanks

    -Frank

MAN - you must be one stud - willing to freeze yer keister off while waxing your car :) 30 degrees - holy crap :) :) :)

VERY good question though - will be watching this tread to see the answer (NOT that I would ever detail my car in the super cold) :)

  7. Went SNUBA diving while on vacation a few years ago in the Caribian. Was AWESOME. Considered getting certified, along with my wife and the kids - but money helped decide otherwise :) Plus, diving here in So Cal would be NOTHING like diving in the Caribian (nice warm waters)

    MAYBE someday

  9. Jason, are you familiar with this product from Griot's Garage?? Do you have anything similar?? We do a lot of road trips and something like this would be great when it is hard to find a car wash and you are just looking to get rid of some heavy road grime......

You may use this cleaner on a wet or dry surface. The lubricious emulsions work to loosen and dissolve dirt, oil, greases, bird droppings and grime. In order to reduce the possibility of inducing scratches while cleaning it is important to follow these easy steps. Be especially careful on surfaces coated with mud, sand and soil.

    1. Work from the top down, saving the dirtiest portions of your vehicle for last. Work in small sections and do not allow product to dry on the vehicle. Wipe in a side-to-side motion and not in circles. Fold our soft micro fiber cloth into quarters. Spray a small amount onto the cloth and then spray a small section of your vehicle, coating the surface with a moderate quantity of Spray-On Car Wash. An extra spray on bird droppings is a good idea. Give the product 15 seconds to sit on the surface to lift the dirt before removing.
    2. Using our soft micro fiber cloth wipe the area very gently in one direction to remove the dirt using a wipe & lift motion. Turn the cloth frequently. Apply more Spray-On Car Wash if necessary. It is very important to be very gentle and not bear down with the first few wipes while removing the majority of surface dirt.
    3. Using a second, clean micro fiber cloth, lightly buff any remaining product from the surface. If necessary a light misting and buffing will bring out a nice shine. Turn your cloth frequently and always use a clean side of the cloth for the final buff.
    4. As your micro fiber cloth gets soiled, replace it with a new one and as often as necessary. Depending on how dirty your vehicle is, 3 to 4 cloths will be necessary. Micro fiber is machine washable for many years of use.
    5. You can follow up with our Paint Cleaning Clay, polishes, waxes or Sealants for a full detail.

This sounds a lot like that Dri Wash 'N Guard stuff I used to see. Spray it on even a dirty car (supposedly), and wipe it off.

  10. Right now - Senior Product Specialist at Stillen in the American Performance Division. Been here for just a year now. Previous to this, spent a year in the service department at at Ford dealership.

Prior to that - 23 years of Information Technology experiance - Manager/Director level. Most recently with WellPoint Health Networks (the parent of Blue Cross). Lost that job at the end of 2003 when they moved my data center facility to Missouri - and I was never able to find a job back in IT again :(

HOPING to start my own business in the next few months. No details yet - other than that I have a few state tests to pass and an FBI background check to be completed :)
