Its a shame to see a 60 year old company just go away - over 30,000 people being let go. I fear this is only the tip of the iceberg. HOPEFULLY I am wrong.

Needing SOME income, I ended up working for a local Ford dealership (mainly because I love cars, and the provided a guaranteed income for a short period of time). I worked there for almost exactly one year – in sales, parts and lastly as a Service Advisor. While working at the Ford dealership, I used to take dealership cars (Ford GT, Shelby’s, modified Mustang’s, etc) to local car shows. Its there that I met the owner of Stillen – where I ultimately ended up. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Well, I have been with Stillen for about 15 months now. I guess MAYBE I came into the automotive high performance industry at the wrong time. While I had a couple of reasonable months, all in all I was not able to provide for my family like I should be. About 6 or so months ago I realized that if I was ever going to have the income I needed to, I would need to move out on my own. I began taking classes online – studying until late at night and on the weekends. Geez, I thought all that was over when I got my degree in Business Management – boy was I wrong About a month ago, I took all of my tests to get my Property & Casualty, Life and Health Insurance licenses – and passed them all on the first shot (AMAZING). <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Starting on Monday – Jan 26<SUP>th</SUP> – I will be running my own business – a Farmers Insurance Agency. I will be selling Home, Auto, Life, Business and Workers Comp insurance – as well as some line of Health insurance. There are links to the Stillen blog, with videos of the car, magazine covers, etc. Total investment in the car is over $70,000. Enjoy

My pool guy only had to come out 3 times to clean the filters And we have one of those pool covers that lays on the water - so a LOT of the ash didnt even get in the pool. There were about 9 neighbors of mine that had NO pool covers - they ended up having to have their pools drained and refilled. A few days after the refill, we had nasty winds - which kicked up the ash again - and 3 of the pools had to be re-drained and filled again.

Just hope EVERYONE is safe from this. Last years fires were within about a block of our house. Mandatory evacuations 1/2 block away - voluntary in our neighborhood. About 3 weeks of smelly smokey crap in the air (and a pool with nearly black water). All I can say is - WHENS IT GONNA RAIN

MAN - you must be one stud - willing to freeze yer keister off while waxing your car 30 degrees - holy crap :) VERY good question though - will be watching this tread to see the answer (NOT that I would ever detail my car in the super cold)

Went SNUBA diving while on vacation a few years ago in the Caribian. Was AWESOME. Considered getting certified, along with my wife and the kids - but money helped decide otherwise Plus, diving here in So Cal would be NOTHING like diving in the Caribian (nice warm waters) MAYBE someday

Right now - Senior Product Specialist at Stillen in the American Performance Division. Been here for just a year now. Previous to this, spent a year in the service department at at Ford dealership. Prior to that - 23 years of Information Technology experiance - Manager/Director level. Most recently with WellPoint Health Networks (the parent of Blue Cross). Lost that job at the end of 2003 when they moved my data center facility to Missouri - and I was never able to find a job back in IT again HOPING to start my own business in the next few months. No details yet - other than that I have a few state tests to pass and an FBI background check to be completed
