  2. Easy install....have helper to adjust where tailgate meets cover.  That part is important on how it closes against the tailgate.  Also, the one point in the instruction says to have 1/8" gap on passenger side where it rolls into track.  That is easy, but also important so it simply rolls into the track as pictured.

    Anything else, let me know!

  3. Brian, I took a look at the RollX toneaus and I really like that design.

However, these first few comments kind of scared me away from them:

"Please do not be fooled by this video. I watched several of these videos and went on to purchase a Bak Roll-X for a 2013 Ram 1500. It was professionally installed at a purchase and installation cost of over $1100 CA. The first time out driving at highway speed in a cross wind, the "locked" rear catches "unlocked", lifted up and slammed violently down, destroying the cover and causing some damage to my truck. I contacted the company where I purchased the cover, and, because I am over the 1 year warranty, I am out of luck. "An Act Of God", I was told, not covered. God did not design a cover that would come unhinged from a locked position in a cross wind. These are normal driving conditions. This can only be a basic design flaw.  The metal railings at the ends of the cover where the cover meets the tailgate were bent to 45 degrees. Clearly, the light metal allowed the wind to lift up the hinges and unlock the latches. From there, it was just pieces of flying metal and plastic. Totalled. And I am out $1100."

"I just got one of these, not too impressed.  Seems to me that if they made a proper front cross bar holding the cover properly and tightly to the side bars and to the bed, it'd work a LOT better.  Right now it leaks water like crazy at the front corners, and yes I do have it mounted and positioned correctly.  They know how long the bed is anyway, why all the need to work so hard at getting the spacing correct?  I hope version 3 has a lot more improvements.  Oh, and it rattles like crazy when driving, not good at all!"

"Personally, I wouldn't get this one. I do like the idea of a roll tonneau cover but the design is what I don't agree with. When it's completely rolled up, there's that fat and high roll that takes up space. It's ugly. I dislike the "tabs" that stick out. It could scratch something you're hauling or it could get caught on something which possibly could lead to something bad. Think personal safety. Then the rattling while driving; it could be distracting. Just my .02¢. They should make a cover that slides in and out like an accordion and while it's fully open, the cover should rest flat alongside the front of the bed. "

Have you ran into any of these problems?

I'm going to weigh all my options, and thanks to everyone for your recommendations.

Going to put a lot of thought into this decision.

I have experienced none of these issues.  They did redesign from the original just last summer I believe.  Mine is working fine.  I don't have mine rolled back that often so the looks doesn't bother me.

  4. To answer one of your questions....if your tailgate locks, the tri folds, retractables and such are relatively secure.  My Rollx cannot be opened without first opening the tailgate.  I really wish GM would put a power tailgate lock that works with the doors.  Would be really nice.

  5. Nice truck Brian.

I can see you have the HD variant from your wheels.

    Did you get the Duramax?

I was really disappointed to see GMC went away from the chrome wheels on the Denali's. Such a shame. I see the 1500 variant now comes with standard "machined" wheels and polished as an option. To me, that is a joke to offer machined wheels with a 50K dollar truck.

I'm so glad I got my Denali last year, as you can't get the chrome wheels anymore.

    Thanks Mark!

I did get the Duramax and those rims are actually my winter rims which I saved off my 2012 to run on this one.  My summer rims are 20's and polished.  Not the greatest picture, but this is what they look like.  I am wrapping them up in some Toyo AT's in the 275/65/20 version for a little nicer stance.

  6. I just installed a Bak Rollx on my 2015 Denali and it is great.  I have had retractables, standard snap on and tri folds in the past.  Every single one has pros and cons.  I really like the Rollx because you can hardly tell from the side that it is on the truck.

All the ones mentioned above are good and 99% of them require no drilling in the bed.  It really comes down to your budget and how you want it to look and function.

Here is a decent picture of mine.

  7. Morning!

Ordered a 6 pack for myself at Christmas time.  One of the products was the detail spray and I have been watching videos on You Tube.  Thought I would give it a shot on my brand new 2500HD Denali yesterday.....Holy crap!  That stuff is amazing.  I love the glide with the white drying towel.  I ordered a bunch more stuff last night and reorganizing (giving away) all of my other crap that I have been using.  I am pretty sure my shelf will be screaming Adam's in short order!!
